He did it for just that reason, to get you flustered so he would have a reason to pull you over. I was driving home about 11 one night, down these narrow dark roads. I see a car coming with their hi-beams on, I flipped mine to let them know and nothing. Well it irritated me and as we passed I flipped mine back on. AS soon as I did that he flipped on his berries. Pulled in behind me and turned off his hi-beams!! Of course he denied it, then spotted the (full) six pack and insists I take a field sobriety test. It was 30 degrees out and he wouldn't even let me put my coat on. At court they gave me this huge fine and made me go to a Road Rage class. They consider that a 'tell-tale' sign. ???

He was "fishing" or "trolling", waiting for you to screw up. Usually, if we pull in close to someone we are trying to see the occupants in the vehicle and what they are doing. As for trolling, I don't subscribe to this kind of chicken s*** tactic just to have something to do. We actually are to busy where I work to have the time for this kind of crap. The officers I supervise don't pull this stuff either, as they are "officially" discouraged from it, by me. I usually hear this kind of story coming from a smaller jurisdiction where there is less going on. That is not a slap at officers from small towns, I'm just saying that is where I usually hear about these issues. There are some fine officers in small towns, just like there are some real creeps who should not be carrying a badge on big departments.

they will tailgate so you know youre the one being targeted, and theres no mistake.
and its pretty sad if you run into stationary objects like curbs. Maybe you deserve a ticket for not being able to control your vehicle in an appropriate manner. saying you freaked out because of him just justfies the ticket even more. Freaking out behind the wheel is reckless driving.

Amen, sister. It's unfortunate but the very people that are put in place of enforcing the laws, don't keep them, themselves. I'm talking, tailgating, speeding, running reds, driving drunk and even indulging in illicit drugs.
Being cops, they not only feel they are above the law but that it doesn't apply to them at all.
This doesn't mean all officers behave this way but I've seen so many examples of what I mentioned that, yes, I do think most feel the very law they inforce does not apply to them.
