~As long as you're going to be awake anyway, buy a speller and a grammar book and use the time constructively. You need the help more than you need the sleep.

I think you may want to see a medical doctor regarding your inability to sleep. You may have a case of insomnia, could be Cronic Fatique Syndrom; or the beginnings of Fibromyalgia.

There can be many reasons why we don't sleep, anxiety, stress, poor sleep habits, or many medical conditions.

You really need to see a MD, and let him exam you to see if there are any other symptoms, in order to help diagnose why you are not sleeping.

The sooner you do this, the better you will feel the next day after a good nights sleep. I know as I have CFS, and Fibro...

I'm having the same problem. I have decided to see a psychiatrist (a psychologist is not an MD), not only can they help evalulate whether you have anxiety or some other issue that may need to be addressed, but they can also prescribe medication so they can objectively evaluate both the psychological and physical components. Ask your primary physician for a referral, let him/her know what's going on. Worst case scenario, you may be referred to a sleep center, but at least you will get the help that you (and I) need.

Get your doctor to put you in a sleep center at a hospital. They can monitor your brain waves and it will indicate why you are not sleeping. They will be able to treat your problem with the correct medication, it could be a chemical inbalance in the brain.

Clear your mind of everything. It doesnt mean think about nothing, it means not even think about that. (remember, nonexistance is different than nothing). I usually try to focus on the back of my eyelids (itll feel like youre trying to focus on somethign very close in your eyes, kinda a weird feeling). Dont let your mind stray. Its not dificult. I used to have the same problem.

Drink yourself to sleep. Go for a run before going to bed.
