i follow the teachings of christ and use the 10 comandments as a moral guide. but i do not believe most of the old and most of the new testaments are the word of god.
in the letters writen to the churches of god i see it as one man scolding them for not believing as he does.

Though I am not Christian, I am sure that believing in a religion is a good thing. Either you believe it all, or not; I think this does not matter now. Cling to the main things. You can even start reading about other religions, may be you can find one to believe in as a whole, and may be by time you will get new understanding of the things that you currently do not believe.

For me it is a good question.

You said you follow the teaching of Christ and do use the 10 commandments as a moral guide. That is a start.

Do you believe that the christ is Jesus? Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? Do you believe what Jesus the Christ as he is called in the Bible did tell the truth at all times?

I ask this because it is one thing to follow ones teachings and another to understand exactly what He taught. The way I do understand it a true Christian is one who is Christ like. However I see so many calling themselves Christians and act not as I think the Christ would act. Yes I do accept I am not the judge and that I may see wrong.

I personally do not see that following the teachings does make one a Christian. In my view one must believe in Jesus as the Christ and believe every word he did say as pure truth or He was not the Christ.

Do give that some thought and do have a great day.

You are a Christian if you believe that Jesus Christ came down to earth in a human body to save us from our sins. It doesn't matter whether you follow the Ten Commandments. If you don't believe that Christ is your Savior then you are not a Christian. Just wondering, why don't you believe the whole Bible? Which parts do you believe are the Word of God? Just curious.
About the guy who is scolding people, I think you're talking about Paul right? It's kinda funny cause one of my friends also has some trouble reading Paul's letters without arguing against some of the stuff he says. A lot of what he says actually makes sense, though. Some of the problems could be with the translation you have.
Basically, from what you wrote, I don't think you are a Christian.

A christian is a person who has a relationship with christ by way of christ living in him......there is nothing on this physical earth that could separate him and the person

when you read the bible you must discern and digest the words and your spirit will know what you are to put your trust into.....the bible has many prophecies that have come true you can just verify that by checking out history of those particular countries etc. you will also see that some of the things that happen now are part of the unraveling of a prophecy.......I hope my friend on that special day when we are physically reunited with christ that I will see you there. God bless!

A true Christian follows the example of Jesus Christ. The words in the Bible come from God through Jesus to the 40 different men who wrote them down. The Bible says they are all inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for disciplining in righteousness that the man of God may be fully equipped for every good work. Based on this information, do YOU think you are a Christian???

You are only considered to be a christian if you repented of your sins and receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If you didn't do that and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, then no, you are not a christian. It just means that you are a good person. Buddhists, Jews, and many other people from other religions, follow the same past as you... they don't lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, and so on... but they are not Christians. They, like you, are just good people. There is only one way to be a true Christian, and from what you described, I would have to say that you are not. But if you have any desire about becoming one, or have any other questions, feel free to ask. I would love to talk.

The definition of Christian is Christlike. If you are striving to be like Jesus Christ, then yes, you are a christian. Allot of the Bible is parables, stories that have a life lesson behind it. Other stories and or events are factual. You might want to check out the Mormon religion, the Book of Mormon was not only written thousands of years ago but there are also parts that were added as little as 25 years ago, through modern day prophets, such as Joseph Smith and Gordon B. Hinkley. Pray about your beliefs and be specific about your questions to God and He will answer your prayers, possibly not the way you want answered but answered none the less. Stay with it. God Bless and good luck.

its hard for you to sure of this if you dint believe the bible. the bible says that if you believe that Jesus is The Christ than your born of God. The word Christian means I follow Christ. You can't follow Jesus unless you believe He is The Christ but how can you believe this if you don't know how much of the source of Christianity "the Bible" is true? I believe with you its just a matter of lack of knowledge. if you study accuracy of the bible than you will have no doubt that it is the word of God and is true. I suggest you read Evidence that demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. The Author was like you but in graduate school set out to dispute the bible and now he is one of the bibles greatest defenders.

You say that you follow the teachings of Christ but you do not believe the old and new testaments are the word of God.
How can you follow the teachings of Christ.
John3:3 A religious man Nickodemous came to Jesus and asked Him what must I do to be saved?
Jesus replied you must be born again.
God is the one who reveals Himself to those who come to Him .
He said "If you shall search for me with all of your heart then you shall find Me. John 3:16.
You will know.
Take care!

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

This is written in the last book of the Bible. If you don't accept the whole truth of God's Word the Bible then God will take away your part out of the book of life etc. I pray that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the Truth of the Bible. Peace be with you.
