my question is non muslims know very little about islam. even the biography of prophet MOHAMMED is not read by non muslims. the basic tenets of christianity are known to even non christians also and several non christians also know the biography of JESUS as the christian missionaries through charity trusts, schools, hospitals, propagated it. if islamic scholors also propagate their religion by using all modern tools of communication, the biased opinion of non muslims would be vanished. i feel lack of authentic knowledge of islam and due to western media propaganda and the terrorists is causing damage to islam. my appeal to all islamic scholors to make known to the non muslims the basic tenets of islam.

my intention of asking this question is if the tenets of islam are known to the world, all the misconceptions about that religion would be dispelled

we do not propagate becoz Allah says teach them about islam not spread islam. teach people about Islam so that if they feel Allah is the thruth, only then will they themselves come to Allah.
i think it always a wiser way to accept things the way they are. u cant pressurize someone when it comes to faith.

Allah knows best. no man can actually ever convert for another man/woman. and no one should ever try converting someone else. Allah has said spread the word not make them beleive it.

we can only tell people about islam not make them beleive it. making them beleive in islam is Allah's job. as Allah says "Verily! I shalt guide those whose hand is in mine"

as Allah says in surah Al-kafirun, let them be. if they accuse u or do not beleive in Allah then part with them in a fair and humble manner by saying:
Al-Kafiroon | 6 verses | The Disbelievers سورة الكافرون
Sura #109 | Makkah

1 Say: O disbelievers!
2 I worship not that which ye worship;
3 Nor worship ye that which I worship.
4 And I shall not worship that which ye worship.
5 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
6 Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion.

You are right.

There are not too many Islamic missionaries, but still peoples are turning to Islam, Famous or Ordinary, Rich or Poor and it is not just propaganda on internet, you can meet those real peoples who accept Islam, I already met a few of them, they are from different countries and different ethnic backgrounds, they were just tired of those strange theories about God, and Islam directed them to the right path.

I am not sure if having missionaries like Christians can help Islam; because whatever you do Guidance is from God.

But still these missionaries can provide all important Information to Non-Muslims

Well, I want to say one thing.
Propaganda is not always good.
Christianity came to many countries centuries ago with the SWORD ( Russia for example)..It was kind of violence.

Islam is for those whom God Had open heart and gave chance to come. Even of you preach Islam on the every corner of the street the reaction of non muslims can be even worse.

Those who are in Islam are posess nessesary knowlege about it.
Those who are seeking of Islam or on the way to it- will find the way to get information.
Lets not appeal to make Islamic propaganda. Look around how unbelievers treat Islam...

My dear sister, the answer to your question had been given by those who have never really learned about Islam but still they think that they know very well. Their biases are against a religion that they know nothing off. And notice that these type of people are even not ready to listen to it, then how can any one answer to those who do not want to know? Please read the following verses from Al-Quran and try to understand them first yourself. Al-Quran (Chapter : Verse) 16:125, 2:6-7, 28:56, 36:11 & 9:122. For Allah knows better.

seems the problem is in Islam's attempt to convert people to their religion. Instead of seeing other religions as religions and respecting those, they see all people (if they aren't a Muslim) as if they are in need of a religion.

The unique thing about it all is that everyone believes "their own religion" is the true religion. And if the religions they believe in are the true religion, according to their perception (which perceptions are reality to people), then their religion teaches them not to even read the Koran or any other religion's holy book. And, in addition, and what's strange about it all, in the end all do believe in God, although He is named different things in different languages.

The religion of the Muslims is the Old Testament which states of beheadings, offering up people sacrifices, an eye for an eye and such....and their book is believed to the letter, and believed even today. Other religions have the New Testament which has been updated to not be cruel way of living, and are considered more civilized. And it is at this point where the religions of BC and AD clash. The other point where the religions clash is where Abraham had two sons. And the split of religions occurred.

Frankly I get tired of Muslims saying they hate Jews and hate Christians; they emphasize that Christianity came from Judeasm. One reason is because I dislike the word "hate" that they use.

I agree, nevertheless islam is the fastest growing religion and 3 out of 4 who convert are women.

I think part of the answer to you question is the issue of funding, generally speaking mosques don't tend to make a lot of money. In islam we do have a concept of tithing known as zakah. The money is on many occasion given to the mosque which is required to be given to the poor and pay the caretakers of the mosque. Nevertheless, the numbers of people giving is not as significant as there are not that many muslims within the states. Hence low revenues.

Oppurtunities do exist. There are many courses offered on islam within mosques and i know there are mosque that do interfaith learning programmes. Not to mention the internet. MAS (Muslim American Society) also address things like that. But all these require people to take initiative to attend.

Its sad but the controversies such as terrorism and women's rights seem to sell islam, in other words the controversy act as publicity for islam. You know what they say no such thing as bad publicity. I recall that there was a surge of people converting to islam after 9/11. Not out of the belief terrorism is right obviously but many dig deeper, asking their friends and so on. Just wished it was more of an effort by muslims, myself included to reach out to others.

Scholastic skill is in no way similar as expertise. The worst section is, even as any view is branded as “God’s choose”, human beings do not end utilising their brains. This has befell many situations in human heritage. those so stated as scholars could be dealt with as criminals and they could be punished as criminal regardless of their religious backgrounds.
