in Leviticus why do we ignore the food and chothes laws but always use the verce about how a man should not lay with another man. if you are going to say god thinks that is a sin shouldn't you also say that we need to follow the clothes and food laws also? (ones should not wear wool and coton mixed, seafood)

I viewed your profile and you claim that you aren't homosexual, so what is the reasoning for your question? Are you really all that bothered with what people eat or wear? When you straddle the fence, as you try to do, you can't be 100% Christian. God says He will spew you out of His mouth.

We don't ignore it... when Jesus was alive, he said that nothing that God made was to ever be considered "dirty" again. Therefore, all of the old laws concerning seafood and wool and the like were done away with, because Jesus said so. However, Jesus never, not once, condoned a same sex relationship, nor did he say anything that would do away with that law.

I feel ya! My mom tried to use Leviticus against me when I got my first tattoo, but I reminded her that the church follow the "New" Testiment not the "Old" one. That really pissed her off!!! She couldn't use that against me again!
Most Christians follow the New testiment, and I believe it does have a something in there about lying down with the same sex is an abomination.....

because people LOVE to pick and chose what they believe in. They only point out the parts that help their side of the arguement.

my favorite part about the whole "the bible hates gays" thing is the fact that nowhere in the new testiment, or does jesus ever mention anything about it. According to the article "homophobic? reread your bible" by the professor of christian morals at harvard (peter J. gomes), the bible has essentially zero relevent backing to the "bible hates homos" arguement. Its a great article, especially ebcause hes even a minister.

1Co 6:9 Don’t you know that evil people will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who are prostitutes or who commit homosexual acts. 10 Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom. 11 Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of that was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Some of you used to do those things…

As for the law...

Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

Galatians 2:16 We know that no one is made right with God by obeying the law. It is by believing in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus. That is so we can be made right with God by believing in Christ, not by obeying the law. No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Galatians 2:21 I do not get rid of the grace of God. What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!

Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace.

Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same.

The 10 commandments along with the rest of the law were "set aside" when they were fulfilled or completed at Jesus' resurrection.

Food and clothing laws, as well as Sabbath and Temple laws were finished when Jesus came, as they were all in preparation for the Messiah. As you read the NT (presuming you will) you will see when and why the laws were lifted on food and clothing etc, but moral laws such as murder, greed, drunkeness and sexual immorality (of all kinds) remained because they are a matter of morality not a matter of preparation.

The wool and cotton thing probably has a deeper meaning. You have to understand that not everything in the bible can be seen by the naked eye. You have to be in touch with God and you will start to get revelations."Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understandin"

Gay bashing is also present in the New Testament in Romans. But Paul obviously had some serious sexual issues, so I'm not sure why people care about what he had to say on the matter.

don't be fooled. I met Adam final November at certainly one of his e book signings and he's no longer virtually as vast in guy or woman as he seems on television. i became somewhat shocked! he's a large constructive guy to boot! He gave me a hug and he's somewhat muscular!

Thats one of the problems with hypocrite Christians who think they can pick and choose what they want to follow and condemn.
