Hello and congratulations to you on your informed decision!
It is good to see a parent who is concerned enough about her children to research the subject before making a blind decision.
Most people blindly listen to the advice of doctors and other parents.
Please ignore the negative comments here. You are obviously a caring, concerned parent. Most parents spend more time researching the next camcorder that they are going to buy. They don't bother to take the time to actually research what kinds of chemicals are being injected into their children. It really shows in most of the comments that you have received.
I would like to respond to some of the comments that you received...
"They aren't CHEMICALS, anyway"
Yes, they ARE chemicals.. Many vaccines contain ingredients such as formaldehyde, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, thimerosal (mercury), aborted fetal tissue, monkey kidney cells, etc.. Many ingredients that are KNOWN to be dangerous to humans. Imagine what it does to a baby with an under-developed immune system.
You can look up the ingredients in the following link, or you can look at the vaccine insert.
http://www.informedchoice.info/cocktail.html
"I guess your kid wont go to school then.... they have to have there shots."
No.... The actual state requirement is that they are required to show proof of vaccinations OR an exemption form. Exemption reasons being for Religious, Medical and Philosophical purposes. You would need to look into the state that you live in for specifics, but EVERY state offers exemptions.
"besides you had your shots havent you?"
When I received my shots, I was given vaccinations for 4 diseases. My parents were a vaccinated for 1 disease. My grandparents were given none. The 2006 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation is 28 individual shots covering 14 different diseases. Big difference!
Here's the link... Count the shot intervals...

"My husband's Aunt had Polio and she had to endure hundreds of painful surgries just in order to walk with crutches. Is this what you want for your son?"
Of course it's not what she wants for her son. Did you know that the last outbreaks of Polio in the US were actually caused by the vaccine that was created to "protect" us?
"According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control) figures, from 1980 through 1989, every case of polio contracted within the United States was caused by the vaccine."
How can the pushers of the vaccine take responsibility for "eradicating" Polio when it is the actual vaccine that has been infecting people with the disease?
Here is a recent outbreak in China which was CAUSED by the Polio Vaccine...

“its always better to prevent than cure"
Very true! Prevention begins with a healthy lifestyle. Supplementing with vitamins and minerals. Eating whole foods.
"All I can say is.... I'm sure glad your son is NOT in school with my boys!!!!"
I just love this comment....
You obviously vaccinated your boys. But if you feel so confident about the vaccines, then why are you so glad that her son is not in school with yours? I thought that the all-mighty vaccinations were supposed to protect your boys from these diseases. It looks like you aren't that confident after all. Vaccines are not 100% effective.
How many of your doctors’ actually sat down with you and talked to you about the risks of vaccinations. Probably not many. I have always received the typical… “You know, you need to get your vaccinations. If you don’t you are putting yourself and others at risk. Risks? Yes there are some risks. However, it is very, very rare. So… ready for that shot?”
Even if they do go over the risks, I can’t see how that can possibly have enough time to go over everything with the short 10-15 minute doctor visits.
The sad reality is that most people are uninformed. They don’t bother to do the research. Yet they always seem to find a way to voice their opinion. And their opinion is always fact. “You HAVE to vaccinate!”, “If you don’t you’re bad parents!”, “The risks are minimal”, etc…
Here are some FACTS…
Vaccines can be VERY harmful and deadly. The following link will show you real life examples.
The CDC has a program called VAERS (The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System). Most people don’t even know that this website exists because doctors and nurses usually don’t mention it.
The first link is a search criterion that I entered. Just to show you the seriousness of this. This search will show you babies between the ages of 0 to 5years of age who have died because of a vaccine reaction. You can see how many results came up "Found 1928 records with From age '0' and To age '5' and Patient Died"
If you want to run your own search, you can just go to the bottom of the page and click on "New Search"
http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/findfie...
Here is the main page...
http://vaers.hhs.gov/
Sometimes while researching this subject, you will need to read between the lines. People will sometimes use comments to twist the facts.
The CDC admits that there are far more negative reactions to vaccine than there are occurrences of the actual diseases.
Here are the facts:
"Today, vaccine-preventable diseases are at or near record lows. At the same time, approximately 15,000 cases of adverse events following vaccination are reported in the United States each year. This number exceeds the current reported incidence of vaccine-preventable childhood diseases."
Now, do you believe that they actually use these exact words to prove the point that vaccinations work?
Here’s the link to the page:
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/publications/pink...
Contrary to popular belief, vaccinations are not 100% safe. They are not 100% effective. There is no guarantee that your child will not get the disease that the vaccine is supposed to be protecting him/her for. There is also no guarantee that your child will not have a very bad reaction to the vaccine.
Again I commend you on your decision. It is so difficult to make an informed choice when the people around you are so brainwashed and they try so hard to push their beliefs on you. My advice to you is to stay on top of your child’s nutrition. Always try to use good organic whole foods. Supplement with minerals and vitamins. A healthy way of life goes a long way.
Also, you should learn as much as you can about these diseases. This way, you will be able to recognize the symptoms if your son becomes ill. And you should know how to care for him. Contrary to popular belief, most of these diseases are preventable by healthy living. And they are treatable as well.
Also, stand strong on your beliefs. Never let anyone put you down because of your decision. You are a great, caring, loving mother to be so concerned for her child’s health. You will experience a lot of negativity based on your decision. Many people will be quick to condemn you on your decision. Just like many people here have done. Most of the people who will condemn you never thought twice about injecting that stuff into their child. As you can see by many of the comments, to most people, vaccinations are a given. You have to do it. It isn’t an option to them.
It makes me laugh sometimes… People are so concerned about “freedom of the press”, “freedom of speech”, “freedom of religion”, etc… But what ever happened to “freedom of health care”
It is your decision and your decision alone.
Good luck!
in response to Opus' post...
(Is that how you always respond? By name-calling? Your maturity level shows. )
My reference was direct from the CDC. Your reference is from an obviously biased website.
As far as treatment is concerned for these diseases, I never once mentioned antibiotics. And as far as antibiotics are concerned, by inhibiting white blood cell production they lower the body's natural immune response. They should be used very sparingly.
I use probiotics as well as trace mineral and vitamin supplementation on a regular basis which helps the body to naturally prevent these types of illnesses.
There are many natural treatments that are proven to work. Something as simple and natural as Vitamin C for example.
For those of you who are interested, there is a book that was written by Thomas E. Levy, a practicing physician for 25 years, a board-certified internist and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also an attorney. Dr. Levy’s book is called "Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, and Toxins: Curing the Incurable".
Here are some quotes from his book:
"Properly dosed vitamin C will reliably and quickly cure nearly all cases of acute polio and acute hepatitis. Polio babies are completely well in less than a week and hepatitis patients are sick for only a few days, not several months." (p 19)
Non-viral diseases discussed include diphtheria, tuberculosis (in considerable detail), strep, brucellosis, typhoid, dysentery, malaria, trichinosis, and the always-controversial subjects of tetanus and pertussis.
Dr. Levy’s book presents clear evidence that vitamin C cures disease. It contains over 1,200 scientific references, presented chapter by chapter. It does not mince words. It is disease specific. It is dose specific.
There are many alternatives to "modern medicine's" approach. Some people are finding that drugs are not always the answer. There are much better, safer, natural alternatives.

You have an honest opinion on how to protect your son from deceases. I am sure you have thought about it long and hard. I am wondering why you would want your child to have to go thru all the fevers and sickness, associated with many of these deceases. Many of which can cripple and cause even death to your child. Polio is not a decease you would ever want you child to have the remotest chance to have.
I know that you think you are doing the best for him. But most of these vaccinations are not chemical. They are the actual decease in a small doesage that actually allows the immune system to ward off the decease. The reason the vaccinations were developed is that these deceases could not be killed by the human immune systems and they caused many cripplings and deaths each year to children. These are the reasons that these vaccinations were conceived to stop the infectious deceases. In 1966 TB was erradicated from the USA, untill third world immigrants came to the country. Today it is back on the vaccination list. With all the third world country people being let into this country I am surprised that more erradicated deceases are not returning.
Do you want your child to suffer high fevers and diarrerea just so that his body is chemially free? Are you so arrogant that you want your child to suffer thought measles, rubela, roseola, mumps, and God forbid polio? I think not.
Your child will grow up getting many colds and fevers without the help of one that can controled by vaccinations. Why put him through the misery of this?
Also are you going to home school him? He will be required by the schools to have certain vaccinations before entering school
Please for your childs sake and your well being, please reconsider on most of the vaccinations. Your Child's Health and Life may depend on it.
To anser the Girl Named Sue, If the child is not vaccinated and is in touch with one else in school or not in school the is also not vaccinated due any reason, they contract any decease then your child is at risk. As if the school can let you child in without vaccination they can let someones elses child in let say from a third world country and they have the decease. That is how the decease will spread. So be very careful how you tell someone something.

All I can say is.... I'm sure glad your son is NOT in school with my boys!!!!
I guess you must grow your own food & do a lot of canning. No eating at restaurants for you or your son HUH??? I hate to tell you, but EVERYTHING we do right down to the air we breath put chemicals into our systems. You feel "MOST" diseases have cures or was it that they can be treated. There is a BIG difference between treating & curing & they can't even cure the common cold. What if your son, because of a choice YOU made becomes ill (GOD FORBID!!!) with an illness that can be "TREATED" but NOT "CURED"?????
Good Luck, but I don't think it is even legal to enroll children in school that are not vaccinated. Better do some checking on that. There are parents out here who want our kids healthy & vaccinate them to keep them that way. But, YOUR choice is YOUR choice.
NOTE TO: vallenatero1's
The reason I said what I did was that children who are NOT vaccinated are OPEN to other diseases that are not requiring vaccinations AT THIS TIME!!!!!! The immune system will NOT get "stronger" it will be open to the simplist viruses. I would not want my boys around a child who is NOT vaccinated because of this. For all of your spouting off about what others feel or say I can only guess that you either have no kids. You are an organic veegan, hippy tree hugger who thinks everything is a conspiracy. Our opinions are NOT wrong. Have you ever considered that perhaps there have been new cases of old diseases cropping up because of people with YOUR opinion on vaccinations???????? Have you considered that perhaps there are all of these NEW diseases that could have stemmed from an old disease because of people with YOUR opinion???

True, most diseases can be cured after they are caught.
EXCEPT the most deadly ones, like smallpox and polio.
You say you are concerned about putting chemicals in his body. What do you think they'll do when he's sick and can't fight the infection himself, because he didn't get vaccinated?
Please take a moment to realize that entire generations of children used to be wiped out because of illness. We are lucky enough to have ways of preventing the same from happening now. Could you ever forgive yourself if your son fell ill to something that was preventable?
If you really want to help him develop a strong immune system, expose him to various plants and animals and don't use anti-bacterial cleansers all the time. They have been proven to weaken immune systems, as the body never has to fight to get rid of anything.

Everything has a risk and the best thing to do is research all the risks and benefits of anything, including vaccines. While I did/do get my children vaccinated, we did do the delayed schedule ( a newborn doesn't need hepatitis shots if the mom is Hep. neg. How many newborns are having sex & using IV drugs to put them at risk for the disease anyway??? So we waited a few months to get those shots). Anyway, I know some people on a birthing site that either don't vaccinate or selectively vaccinate. Here's a link they refer to a lot: http://www.vaccinetruth.org
I think there is debate on if the chicken pox vaccine is better than aquiring it naturally. But other shots, like the one for whooping cough, really seem to help since almost all kids will be exposed at one time or the other.
Just do lots of research and make sure you talk to your pediatrician. I think the harmful checmicals that they once used in vaccines have been removed (thimerosal).
But seriously, I think it's better for children to get vaccinated for all or most things, especially when they are ready for school. There are so many diseases being brought in from other countries, I just wouldn't feel safe not having my kids immunized.
Good luck on what ever you decide!
---
Edited to read: It's not true that you can't enroll your child in a public school w/o vacc. It may be difficult, but the school district will probably require you get a notorized statement from the state saying you object for either religious or ethical reasons. Some people reject all medical interventions due to religious reasons. Due to that, it's illegal for the school to discriminate and not allow your child to enroll.
For all those who say you're putting their child at risk if your kid goes to the same school are incorrect. If they have had their child vaccinated, and believe these vaccines to be preventitive medicne, then how could *your* child infect *their* child? If the vacines work, your child can't give their child mumps as long as their child has been immunized against mumps.
Edited again: The poster beneath me states " BTW the useless tool, of what should have been an abortion, who called you an idiot in the above post..." - that looks like it's impying I called you an idiot, which I never did. That should have been directed at someone else way up on the list of responses. Just wanted to clarify that...
And "NickN" - in response to your response to me. I have no idea what you mean by " so be very careful how you tell someone something" .
I still stand by my post. States CAN NOT legally keep your child out of school if, at the very least, you get a documentation stating you object for religious reasons. And as the poster below me stated, TX will give you one for free, and it doesn't even have to be for religious objections, it can be for any objection. And my whole point was this: people who are saying shame on the original poster for not vaccinating because it puts their vaccinated child at risk have a theory that doesn't makes sense. If they believe vaccines to be protective, and their children ARE vaccinated, then how on earth can an unvaccinated child give any said disease to their vaccinated child??? That just doesn't make sense. Of course an unvaccinated kid can give a disease to another unvaccinated person, whether from a third world country or not.. That was never the issue at hand. The OP came here asking for links and opinions, which I provided both. There is no need for anyone to single me out or attack me. Maybe you should be careful how you address people on here who are following the rules and giving people the advice for which they ask. Too bad they don't have a vaccine against poor manners.

Personally I believe in vaccinating children. In the past without vaccines a lot more children died of diseases that could have been avoided by being vaccinated. If you do not vaccinate your child he will not be allowed to enter any sports, preschools, daycares, and, when the time comes, grade school.

Schools in the United States will not allow your child to attend if he is not vaccinated. You should check with your local board of education for the requirements.
Most vaccines are safe. However, because of the recent surge in immigration, I would be more concerned because many of the illegals crossing the border have not been vaccinated. Therefore your child is more susceptible to strains of some diseases that were eradicated in the USA but are now showing up again in a more virulent form.

I personally think it is crazy not to get your children vaccinated, I got vaccinated and I got all my kids vaccinated. They are free of charge in the country I live ( Australia) because they are completely nessesary. I understand you wanting your children to develope a natural immunity and vaccinating them isn' t going to kill their immune system but getting sick alot will eventually harm their immune system and they will suffer the sickness.

When you try to get your son enrolled in school you are going to have a fight on your hands. He would be better off getting the vaccines than being treated. My husband's Aunt had Polio and she had to endure hundreds of painful surgries just in order to walk with crutches. Is this what you want for your son?

You are better to get the vaccinations...they put the vaccines in so that your child can build up immunities to the diseases. He may not be able to go to school wiothout having them because schools require them. I see it as abuse that you are not gettign his vaccines. You are running the risk of him getting so sick that he could die.
