Can somebody please explain this religion. Do they believe in Jesus? Do they read a traditional bible. Why no holidays? I really am curious, so if I could get at least a few serious answers that would be great...

Jehovah's Witnesses use the standard Bible with 66 books; they happily discuss and refer to any translation a householder may prefer. They reject the Apocrypha (which includes Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees, supplements to Esther, and three so-called "additions to Daniel") and other deutero-canonical writings.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.

However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Almighty Jehovah God is a different distinct person from His created Son Jesus Christ.

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

Jehovah's Witnesses practice strict political and nationalistic neutrality, so they do not celebrate nationalistic holidays such as Independence Day and Memorial Day.

Other holidays derive from false religion, and so are incompatible with pure worship as adulterating interfaith. For example, Easter derives from the pagan god Oestre and celebrates "rebirth" and "fertility" instead of commemorating Christ's Last Supper and death as Jesus commanded:
(Luke 22:1-22) [Jesus] dispatched Peter and John, saying: “Go and get the passover ready for us to eat.” ...14 At length when the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them: “I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it again until it becomes fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

Seemingly innocuous holidays may have only a tangential connection with false worship, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day (although arguably derived from ancestor worship). Understated observance of these is not generally considered interfaith by Jehovah's Witnesses, but it is too easily misunderstood in some cultures.

Since such celebrations are not required in true worship, and can easily become a distraction, so Jehovah's Witnesses focus their attention elsewhere. In particular, they are focussed on the preaching work which *IS* a requirement for Christians:

(Luke 10:1-17) [Jesus] the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Yes... Yes, they do believe in Jesus. Jesus is the son of the almighty God Jehovah. And yes they do use the traditional bible. Their New World Translation of the bible is translated from the oldest manuscripts known of, to avoid any false add ins to the scriptures. Many recent manuscripts contain spurious scriptures, or add in scriptures that were not part of the original writings. These are not part of the original scrolls, and are not put into the new world translation. Jehovah's Witnesses study the Bible more than any other group of people on earth, and strive to live the way true Christians were commanded to live. As for holidays... those are traditions that men have tried to make holy. Look at Jeremiah 10:1 Thu 5, and what Holiday do you see there...? Most holidays are not sanctioned in the bible. Actually, only one was, and that was the Passover, which became the memorial of Christs death, which he told his disciples to remember... They recognize important dates, like Anniversary days, but do not allow them to comsume the entire day. They are a happy people, who worship a happy God.
I hope this has helped. It is a really deep subject, and needs to be examined further.

I would stay away from this Denomination! They have their own Bible called "The New World Translation." It is very simular, but they have changed some of the wording to fit their translation. They seem nice and good on the outside, but when you find out their doctrines, you will discover that this is an occult. I don't know all, but I do know that they view the Holy Spirit as an it or a power, but I know that the Holy Spirit is a person! They also do not believe in hell, which I know is a false teaching, since Jesus taught us about it. I went to one of their passover celebrations because I was curious, because it is the only time of the year that they take communion. It was such a farce, the Lord corrected me sternly for going. They believe that the only people who can take part in communion are those who are of the 144,000. It is a Religion that has a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof. When I went, the service was dead and boring. They believe that Jesus was never resurrected from the dead! Please check out a NonDenominational Church if you are looking for a Church.

Jehovah's Witnesses worship Jehovah as the only true God and speak freely to others about him and his loving purpsoes toward mankind
They believe, not that Jesus Christ is part of a Trinity, but that,as the Bible says,he is the Son of god,the first of God's creations;that he had a prehuman existence and that his life was transferred from heaven to the womb of a virgin,Mary;that his perfect human life laid down in sacrifice makes possible salvation to eternal life for those who exercise faith;that Christ is actively ruling as King, with God given authority over all the earth since 1914.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God,and instead of adhering to a creed based on human traditions they hold to the Bible as the standard for ALL their beliefs. We use the New World Translation Bible which is a translation of the Holy Scriptures made directly from Hebrew,Aramaic and Greek into modern day English by a committee of anointed witnesses of Jehovah. It is a accurate, largely literal translation from the original languages
There is just too much to mention.I suggest if you are sincerely interested, instead of relying on the ignorance of ones of this website, why don't you go to your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask someone there. They would be only too happy to answer any of your questions and that way you can be assured you are getting accurate answers.

Jehovah Witness do believe in Jesus, they have their own bible that they read, that was written for them by the bible students that started the JW organization. They only celebrate the passover, the reason they celebrate no other holidays is because the holidays came from pagan beliefs.

I am one, except the 'organization' does not want me, because I have the gift of prophecy as brought out in Acts 2:17-21...and many of the teachings are correct, except the prophecies for the last days, and some things about angels, and where the Kingdom of God will really be....and.. all ..churches have their false Christians mixed in with the true ones.

Revelation 2 and 3 show that Jesus is examining ALL his congregations/churches and all need to repent of something, so that he does not remove their Lampstand.

The 'No Holidays'..come form the application of a few principles, like, .."do all things for God's glory".."worship with TRUTH"..and since Holidays are man made..they are not truth...not to mention their origins are in false religions.

For example, the winter solstice was celebrated before Jesus was born. So, to mix the pagan ways with *Christians*, a certain ruler adopted the pagan customs to make his kingdom smoother...Constantine. Jesus was actually born in the Fall, for example he lived 33 1/2 years, and the passover is in the spring..right? so 1/2 added to that is fall.

All liars will have 'the second death' for judgment...Rev.22:15, 20:14,15.

So God says we must worship him with 'Spirit and truth' and Jehovah's Witnesses are very exacting on TRUTH in many matters, but not all.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior and earth's new King.

The idea, or fact about brother Russell, is to say that some anointed brothers got together to study the bible, and their meetings grew in size. Many of his studies were recorded, and as we all take notes on the Bible, we should not assign them as fact, if we are not sure. So apparently some of the brothers were so excited about the coming of Jesus and his Kingdom, they tried to figure out dates, and published their guesses, which is not very wise, as they were wrong a few times.

If you notice in the bible, Satan plants weeds in the churches...ALL of them..so Jesus said..'Let them grow together, then in the harvest the angels will bind up the weeds and burn them, and the wheat will be collected in the storehouses.'

Jesus has allowed this, for a test, and it was not his time to gather all together, as it will be soon after the angels burn the weeds, in the great tribulation.

I hope you took the time to read the answer that achtung_heiss gave you. He directed you to the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses, where you will receive the most accurate information on what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and why. I am going to include one other link that discusses what Jehovah's Witnesses believe. I hope you will take the time to look up the information with your copy of the Bible.

Charles Russel Tayes formed this cult about 120 years ago, they believe Jesus is Michael the arch angel, don't believe in salvation, believe they must do good works to be saved, have their own slightly modified bible which must be read in conjunction with another book that explains it all. They have claimed the world was about to end 7 different times and the last time built a large mansion for Jesus to live in when he returned, but upon the failure of this prediction, leaders of the cult moved into the mansion.

First of all, I am NOT a JW.

JW's believe that Jesus existed but is NOT God.

JW's teach that Jesus is really Michael the Archangel.

JW's teach that Jesus did not die on a Cross but on a torture stake.

JW's have their own Bible called the "New World Translation" NWT that has been changed in order to support their teachings.

JW's claim to be Christian, but as you can see, their teachings are not Christian.

JWs (like Muslims, Jews & Buddhists) are NOT Christian.

They do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah. Sure, they will drop his name in their attempts to convert you, but you must be careful, because many of their interpretations are quite misguided. I can't even begin to go into the doctrine. Please look for one of the many websites, but you would want to have your Bible handy when you do the research. Make sure that when you read any verse (or segment of a verse, as they like to chop them in half and re-arrange words) read the entire chapter so that you can get the actual Biblical context of the quote.

Best of luck! Don't drink the Kool-Aid!
