It depends on your weight - the more you weigh, the more calories you burn.

But taking an average weight of 150, here are the calories burned by certain activities:

Activity Calories burned

Volleyball - competitive 297
Dancing - aerobic, ballet, modern 405
Tennis - singles 414
Aerobics - high impact 477
Stair Step Machine 477
Calisthenics - vigorous 549
Rowing Machine - vigorous 594
Football - full contact 657
Swimming - vigorous 666
Racquetball competitive 684
Step Aerobics - high impact 720
Basketball full court 747
Stationary Bicycle - vigorous 774
Running 10 mph 1,224

As you can see, running fast (at 10 mph) burns the most (1,224), with vigorous bicycling next. (But in reality, how many of us can run 10 miles in an hour?)

I'm not sure about the maximum amount of calories a person can burn an hour, it all depends on the person. however, swimming is one of the best exercises. water sports burn the most calories, a 150lb person can burn up to 780 calories and hour swimming, a 200 lb person can burn up to 1040! i also think i heard somewhere that water polo burns the more calories than any other sport.

I think running is the most calories a person can burn. Running with weights on your wrists and ankles. I'd say, depending on your weight etc. you could burn about 1000 calories in an hour.

only that U wish to continue burning them for the rest of'

The amount of calories you burn depends on several factors: age, sex, weight and metabolism and how intense the exercise is.

low-impact aerobics: 143 calories
high-impact aerobics: 210 calories
light-moderate weight training: 85 calories
rowing: 200 calories

For every 3,500 calories you eat that you don't burn off, you will gain approximately one pound of fat. In order to lose weight, you need to eat less calories and increase the regularity of the exercise. Also important is how much muscle is built. So adding weight training in addition to high impact exercise will burn calories faster! In other words, the more muscle you have, more fat will be burned.

Or my favorite: Have a wild intense sex with your spouse, or lover, you will lose calories as well as having fun! LOL

Everyone always forgets about Wrestling. In high school and College practices, I could loose 12 pounds in two or three hours.

It just depends how hard you are willing to work for it.
