Do yourself a favor and stop trying to forget them.
Even if they arent in your life now, they added to who you are.
Over time the hurt will lessen, and remembering will become ok, perhaps even bring a smile to your heart.
Hold on to the good, let the bad go.
Remembering people, even those who hurt us, is good for the soul so long as we let it make us better, not bitter.

Nope. I believe that once person comes into your life and into your heart they will remain there until the day we die. There are many kinds of love, and we love people to all different degrees. Whatever kind of relationship this was, you will find that the older you get the more you cherish your memories of people who became a great part of your life, and who helped make you the person you are. When it comes to the heart, forgetting is not an option, no matter how much we wish we could at times.

I forget that most people even exist unless they are right in front of me, grabbing my attention. But those few that exist, exist forever. As for trying to forget someone that meant a lot to you...our hearts have a funny way of rebelling against everything the brain tells it to do. The heart will do what it wants, and no amount of tyranny will change it's course.

I am sure you must have your reasons why you want to forget that person. You can not dictate your heart to forget someone, but you can tell your brain to do so. Meditate and tell your brains to reason.

No it's impossible - Brain and Heart never quite work how you want them too. You will always have memories and your heart will always have emotions. It depends on how significant they were to you - time really does heal all wounds - time is the only factor that will relieve your situation.

No you can't. Just remember that time heals all wounds and though it may take months or even years, you will eventually get to a point that it is tolerable.
