uh, which vision? He had more than one.
If you are speaking of the vision which is recorded in Daniel chapters 10, 11 and 12, he saw three angels (the second and third show up in 12:5). The first one is sometimes identified as the pre-incarnate Christ, but this is very unlikely since this being was stopped by another angel for 21 days and had to have help from Michael; no angel could resist Christ.
In the vision from chapter 8 he saw Gabriel, an angel (Daniel 8:16)
Are one of those two what you are referring to?

Not to confuse you--but: Chapter 7: the visions resemble Nebuchadnezzar's dream in:
Chapter:- 2 four human kingdoms folllowed by God's kingdom; the imagery is different---instead of 4 metals--four beasts from the sea; Remember, when the
Bible was written----the sea was a symbol; of choas perhaps inhibited by monsters (se 27,1) The dragon of the sea is slayed; Compare it to 51,9.
This all represents the pagan thought * at the time* , which is more negative than Daniel's 1 to 6.
Then the judgement of the Ancient One is seen on a throne with angels, unnumbered====maybe a thousand---
Then a man appears from the clouds==Christian tradition conciders this to be Christ. Remember the Jews at that time considered it to be the Messiah.
Modern students of the Bible say it's Israel. Others say Michael. When you read Daniel over and over you will say it's the Jews overcoming persecution. Please don't think of Israel founded by the United Nations in 1948 as the same Israel and jews as back then.
The trick is to figure out who is the "son-of-man".
Read 1and 2 Maccabees. over and over for assistance.
Symbolism is clouds, beasts, jewish persecution. Evil---This symbolish is repeated over and over even in the Book of Revelations--------some times the History Channel, "tries" to explain it. Go to the Library and review video's of Revelation. It will help you or read Commentaries.
Read Daniel 8 it attempts to explain Daniel 7. I'm experiencing same problem as you having are and found Isiah 14 to be of some help
The basic format as seen before and after-wards= Hope over comes evil.
It's a puppy to understand----keep rereading and go to Library, use the computer--
Should it be easy to understand---Rabbis, Priests, Ministers and the Gospel stations would be out of business-----and I would be on one corner of a street, you'd be on the other----and we would be fighting for the grocery to throw out a orange crate or even a cardboard box for us to preach the WORD>
Good luck----hope this helped a little bit.

in the lions den and in the fire, it was actually the outside observers who saw somebody with daniel, while he was being protected from the perils of the kings' counselors.
while daniel had the ability to inter pet dreams and visions, i do not believe that he, himself had any.

Daniel had "understanding in all visions and dreams".
I don't recall him seeing a person, just visions.
