I feed my kitty wet food, currently alternating Purina Vitto and a food called Simba, until I get a bit of a break from work and get myself started on making his own raw food. There is a break-up of costs, I think either at www.catinfo.org or www.catnutrition.org.

Dry food = dehydration (saw that on my own - my cat drinks as much food now on canned food as it used to on dry food, one can make the calculation...). Dry food = a lot of cooking, which depletes some of the goodies that the cat needs. A lot of dry foods also include a lot of carbohydrates, but canned food has that too, so I don't know if that's a difference - that's why I am thinking of making his food myself - that way I know what I feed him.
