No, months is not normal. You may have infantigo. Not sure I spelled it correctly but it is an infection caused by scratching. You may have to get a perscriptions to get rid of it.

The best result for bugbites is Witch Heasel, you can get that behind the counter at any drug store. And use cocobutter soap and lotion. No it's not normal or go to you doctor for advise., He can recommend for you medication.

I have had some very long-lasting scars from tick bites: The little bloodsuckers had latched on bot good!
Depending on the severity of the bite, you can expect some mild scarring for quite a while. But it should fade in time.

Self heal. Calendula. Allium cepa (purple onion extract). A health food store, or herb shop would be your best bet. The commercial stuff for scars - Mederma - is actually allium cepa.
