Took over lease agreement for a friend and I had two months left and lost my job and had to leave. Will I be held responsible?

Well, first of all a sopeana will NEVER find you because there is no such thing. No such word. You might have prevented this error by clicking on the blue link: Check Spelling.

The word is subpoena.

[Lat., under penalty], in law, an order to a witness to appear

If you are subpoenaed, there must be proof you received it. Usually, subpoenas are delivered by Deputies or specially licensed people who can testify that you DID in fact receive the subpoena.

If you leave the state, stay away for 7 years. Then the statute of limitations will expire. The statute does not apply to murder. That charge never expires.

It you have actual knowledge of the subpoena, then it will be hard to argue that you didn't have proper notice.

If you are thinking about trying to dodge the subpoena, you need to consult with a licensed attorney.
