Just looking for some advice...I have two male cats had them both since they were kittens now that they are older they don't get along very well anymore. I almost expected that but the youngest is doing his buisness and spraying everywhere and the oldest does his uh-um..."buisness" with the youngest if you know what I mean. Is there anyway that these old kittens can get along ? or is time for one of them to go?

OK, a few questions. Are the cats neutered? If they are still intact, that will cause problems. Especially if there is an intact female anywhere near (including outside!). If not, which one is the aggressor (the oldest, maybe?)? Take them to the vet. They need to be seen to rule out any illness that could be causing aggression. Clean up the sprayed areas with enzyme cleaner. It will get rid of the smell and perhaps discourage them from marking there again. If the vet gives them a clean bill of health, ask him about a behaviorist to talk to. Also, take introductions again from the start.

I've had male cats for most of my life. My mom thinks they are the most loveable. And we've never had a problem housing them together because they were all neutered and all got along very well for their whole lives.

I have 2 males and 7 female cats- the boys get along better than some of the girls do- it's pretty clear who's the alpha male, but their wrestling matches are clearly playing. The alpha does sometimes grab the other by the neck, like he would a female cat, but that's probably a dominance thing (they were both snipped very young). The girls don't let either one mess with them... the girls rule this cathouse!

It sounds to me like they both need to be neutered. Giving each their "own space" might help, too- putting food and water and litterbox in 2 different locations until they settle down.

It's time for a quick trip to the vet to get BOTH of them neutered. You don't want either of them spraying (that smell is almost impossible to eradicate) and if they want to make believe with each other, well, that's what happens when you get two males together. But if they are neutered, that will no longer be a problem.

We adopted 2 males. Both were already spayed, but they continue to try the spraying, I'm-the-alpha-male s**t,..and the older does occasionally "mount" the other. We find that the younger just kinda lays there, so we figure that, once the elder realizes that it's no good for him, either, it'll stop. For the most part, they get along...

If you neuter them they will live in perfect harmony, because they will not be driven to mate and stake out thier claims to females and thier reproductive rights. Without thier testicles they will not produce the hormones that cause the mating behaviour and thus they will not have reason to fight one another for females because neither will have the desire to mate any longer. That way you can keep both cats (saving one from possible euthanasia or death), and reduce thier contribution to the pet overpopulation problem while curing thier aggressive behaviour towards one another. That is my advice to you and I sincerely hope you take it. As a cat would say "You can kill three birds with one paw."

Get them neutered, first of all. Second. Sometimes you may think they are fighting, but a lot of cats play fight. If they start gouging their eyes out, then it is time to get rid of one.
