Not to worry, when you walk into the motor vehicles department with your information in hand hand to get your TX plates, they will collect some tax in lieu of sales tax, perhaps Federal Excise Tax or something, but they will get their cut of the purchase price.

I was just looking at buying a car in NV and live in MN. I was told that I would have to pay the sales tax when I registered it in MN. Ended up buying one locally.

You'll pay it at the tag agency in TX when you register it.
