My legs have little mosquito bite looking things all over them!! When I took a shower tonight I saw two fleas in the water. UGH!!! Does anyone have any cheap ideas for what I can do to get these fleas out of my bed and out of my rug in my room??? PLEASE???

I had a very bad infestation of fleas You should wash all your bedding, curtains, and all clothing in very hot water, then dry it completely. While it is being laundered, vacuum your bed, and carpet thoroughly and take the bag outside to the trash can immediately since the fleas can escape and you'll be right backw where you started. There is a spray that you can purchase at any pet store for your carpet, which only costs about six dollars for a can. Use it right after you're all done vacuuming. And finally, take a good hot shower, and apply noxema liberally on your skin, this will immediately relieve the itching and the fleas won't bite you because they don't like the taste of it. You can also use ice packs if the swelling is particularly bad or calamine if the itching gets bad between showers. Your roommate needs to follow through on the treatment for the dog too, one of the best things for this is to buy a dog bed stuffed with cedar shaving, fleas hate cedar. And you should also clean the rest of your home in a similar fashion, vacuuming, washing everything possible in hot water, to be sure you've gotten rid of them. I had a bad infestation from my mother's cat, and it took me a while to get rid of them - I even had to spread Sevin around the perimeter of the house to kill them off, because most flea treatments kill either the eggs of the adults but not both. Good luck with this very common, and annoying problem!

1) Wash your all your bedding including bed skirt and spread and make sure you dry them in medium or high heat. That should kill the eggs and live fleas. Vacuum your mattress as well as your rug. But remember that live fleas and the eggs will live in the bag so you have to replace the bag a couple of times. The big problem is that no matter how clean you keep your room, if there are fleas in the rest of the house you are going to carry them into your room on your clothes. The rest of the house has to be treated too. There are natural products like penny royal and citronella that repel fleas check at a homeopathic drugstore. Good luck

Lavender....any body spray with lavender or a lavender scented cream. I found the Cloud Nine Buddy Spray (all natural pet products - they are online) very effective. Spray your legs every time you enter the room and before you get into bed so that they don't get a free ride in. Make sure that you vacuum FREQUENTLY. Flea eggs come right up even if the fleas don't. Also, you can use a bowl of water with a little dishsoap on the floor with a lamp close by to lure the adult fleas into the water to drown. I don't use pesticides, but love my animals so I deal with this occasionally

You need to vacuum............allot. You should vacuum for seven days straight, and if you have a vacuum with bags...........dispose of bags after each use. What you need to do is break the breeding process of the fleas, so vacuuming as well as washing all your lines, and areas the dog is in. You may also try bombing your home, but make sure you follow the directions according to the square feet of your home, and how long you need to be out of your home.
