The Camry is coming from a guy that I know did all the maintence has four brand new tires, transmission in good shape, mainly was used for highway driving and he just got it out of the shop where he spent fixing all known problems including the timing belt, new belts, new radiator, ac blows super cold. The only known problems with the car are a small vacuum leak that doesn't cause problems with shifting, a broken antenna, and passenger window doesn't go back up some times using different switchs which is probably a bad window motor.

It all depends on how well you continue to maintain it over that time period. If you let small problems become big ones-- no, it will most likely not. If you fix the small problems as they crop up, it's a good bet the car will continue to run into the 200s...

Keep the oil and trans filters (if an auto) changed, the air filter changed, the belts and hoses in good repair and keep the oil changed every 3,000-3,500 miles. Keep the parts requiring it (mostly in your steering mechanism) in good supply of grease. What keeps a car running is adequate and proper lubrication. Friction is a killer to machines. Take care of your machine and it will take care of you.

That is high mileage even for a Toyota. Make sure you know the history of the vehicles maintenance. If the oil has been changed regularly it stands a better chance. It all depends on how well it was maintained. You may run into other mechanical problems. If you don't drive over 20,000 miles a year it probably will be ok.
Then write a letter to Toyota thanking them and they may put you in an Ad or something.

$4500 is too expensive. You should be able to find a 1997 with llower miles. In fact, I found a few on autotrader.com.

Also 1996 was the last year it had that design. It was redesigned in 1997 and lasted until 2001.

Ouch! we could have a 2nd of silence for the newly departed Toyota. ............... you have probable blown the headgasket and the top has warped. while the engines head is warped the compression can get away into the cooling gadget interior the process the water passages interior the block. the compression is largely compressed air for simplifacation of the factor. while the air enters the cooling gadget it starts forcing area for its self as a effect blowing coolant out the overflow tank. the scent could be exhaust mixing interior the coolant as antifreeze would not scent undesirable in any respect. the smoke could be from the exhaust that's additionally escaping from he head. this could be interior the masses to repair wisely. some might think of they might get by ability of extra low priced even nonetheless it continuously comes back to bight you.

Yeah, if you change the oil every 3-5 thousand miles. They are good cars and seem to last forever without many repairs == but do keep the oil changed.

I used to have a 96 Camry. They say they are "200K Mile Cars", but my started to fall apart in '04. I guess it depends on how good it's been cared for.

Depends on how well it was taken care of (what kind of shape it is in) and how you will run it for the next 3 years.

If you treat it nice, and change the oil regularly, maybe. It has of course exceeded its useful life now, and is 10 years old, so be fairly gentle with it. If you do manage, you certainly will have your moneys worth out of it. Good luck.

Depends on how many miles you put on it and the maintenance it gets. Some cars have over 200K and are still running.
