what if its overamped or too much voltage?

The average lifetime of an LED that is working in proper situation is +100,000 hours. or about +10 years (contimus on).
LEDs are made in diffrent sizes (which means diffrence power they can handle so diffrent working voltages and current). when applying higher voltages in the forward bias, LED will not burn or shorten age as long as the current remans in the normal range. because the overamper damages it (by producing heat).
but in the reverse bias they have a maximum voltage limit (breakdown voltage, like other diodes) which may break them down. this is typically 5v. reffer to datasheet for exact value of maximum reverse voltage.
for ordinary (3mil and 5mil) LEDs working voltage is 2.1 to 3.3 and best current is 10mA.

I doubt someone will be able to give you a exact answer to this question. It all depends on the light source, the voltage, the usage. By usage I mean if the LED is used as a single color light or a changing color light (like in TV's). What I can tell is when you put too much voltage it's like a bulb, it will burn out on the spot (make sure you use the proper resistor! ). And if you really want to know all about LED life and have some time to read check out the link below...it's all there !

LED usually last about 20 years, but if you apply the wrong voltage, too much or too little it may blow instantly.

As a technician, I have seen the occasional burned out LED, but they are the very old ones, I think the newer ones are capable of lasting longer than most people, as long as they are operated within their tolerances.

Pretty long.

It'll probably short itself out then...
