My dog is making me upset, he's always steal stuff from around the house and hiding them in his little cage,is this for attention (because he gets that) or is it to just be onnery!! HELPPPPPPP!!

Definitely, put your things out of your puppy's reach. My dachshund has tons of toys. You know what she does with them? She collects them around her wherever decides to nap. It's the first dog I've ever had who's done this. You'l find her asleep in her bed with at least three of her toys if not more. It happens everyday. I am convinced she is more comfortable with them there.

Dogs don't do things just to be ornery. He probably smells your scent on those items and wants those things around him. Sounds far-fetched, but I've heard of stranger things. If my husband leaves his socks on the floor, they inevitably end up with the stuffed ocotopus, the frog, and the bear in my dachshund's bed. She doesn't chew them. She just collects them.

I think the main issue here is that you are expecting the dog to think like a human. Dogs don't do things to "annoy" or spite you, even though it may sometimes feel that way.

I can pretty much guarantee the dog is behaving this way to get attention as you mentioned. The first thing you need to do is NOT give him attention when he does this. And DO give attention when he plays with his own toys. For example, when my dog goes running off with a sock or shoe, I DONT go chasing after her - because that's like a reward to them! I grab a squeaky toy of hers and run in the opposite direction, pretending I'm having a great time playing with the squeaky. Soon enough, she gets bored of sitting in the other room alone with the sock, and comes running out to see what I'm up to. Then when she start playing with the squeaky, lots of praise and attention.

He may not have any toys, and be looking for some. It's also possible that he's looking for things that remind him of you or someone he cares about. Dogs are very sentimental. My dog used to sleep with one of my shirts when I went out of town, and would always prefer my favorite chair to others when I wasn't around. Please do not be angry with your dog - it is almost impossible that he is being ornery - dogs just aren't like that. He probably just really loves you and wants something with your scent. Give him a sweaty shirt (sweat of the person whose things he's taking), and buy him some doggy toys if he doesn't have any. Is he chewing also? If he still chews your stuff after all of the above, talk to a dog trainer for advice on positive reinforcement training.

It's because he likes you. Are you away from him a lot? I read somewhere when you bring a dog to a kennel for a few days, you should give them a sweatshirt or something with your scent, will make them feel more secure. He may be feeling "neglected", not paying him enough attention or maybe he's jealous of something? Try getting him his own toys, stuffed animals with no small pieces. See if that helps.

He's a dog. He does not think human thoughts so he does not know he is stealing and does not have ornery thoughts. He's just getting some toys to play with and hide.
Try to keep things out of his reach. Get him some real dog toys to play with. My dog loves the dingo bones with meat inside.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. He steals your things when you are NOT around, right? This is his way of saying "I love you and want you with me". It is sooo simple. He just misses you.
Give him a shirt that has your scent or an old towel with the same..... hide treats in toys to occupy him when you aren't there. He just loves you..... how can you be mad at that?

Your dog is just wanting to be a but and see how far they can push you till you get mad. Dogs like to take over the household and you cant let this one. I have a dog that likes to go under my bed with papers and things shred it all up then act likely nothing happens but I smack his butt and tell him no that was bad and now he is a bad boy and dont give him lovings for a lil while.

Neither one, probably. He's just "collecting" things and keeping himself busy. Try putting all your "stuff" up where he can't get to it and leave surprise toys where he can find them! What fun! You'll both love the game!

CALM DOWN. All you need to do is move your stuff to some other place so the dog wont find it.
