I suppose its as LONG as you want it to be, but just take a moment to think of this, if you were to form your piece of string into a circle shape you would then have to change your question to, what is the circumference of the circle? which would give the same answer to both questions. This could get complicated, but hey, clever or what.

As long as you want it to be before you cut it off the spool. I like my string to be two feet long.

now this is a burning question but of cause if it burns then the string would be no length at all
