about a month ago my ears started hurting, especially my right one.. i also was very dizzy. then the pain pretty much subsided for about a week and now today it's back worse than ever. my ears are aching and they feel stuffed.. they hurt and i can't hear as well, but the dizziness isn't really there. i know this could be ear infections with my sinus problems but could this be more serious like a brain tumor or something?

Don't freak yourself out any more than you already have. You already know that you have sinus problems so it's pretty safe to say you have an ear infection and sinus infection. But you should go to the doctor to get it taken care of. Sinus infections and ear infections can be taken care of with an antibiotic. If you don't get it taken care of it can get worse. I get sinus infections so bad that the doctors always think, based on my symptoms, that I have strep. I even get the white spots on my tonsils. So I know that they can get very bad. So get to a doctor and relax. I highly doubt it's any more serious than that.

I really suspect an ear infection with fluid behind your eardrum. That would account for the pain and the dizziness. I know from experience how horrible the dizziness is. I have had the same thing a few times and it was inner ear trouble. A couple of times the dizziness got so severe that I had to crawl to the bathroom. I would not run to the ER, but call your dr for an appointment within the next day or 2. In the meantime, I would take some motrin or tylenol for the pain. Chances are, any dr you see will not automatically rush you back for a CT Scan. Just don't get do worked up. Where I live we have these things called rapid care. it is sorta like a drs office and sorta like a ER. You don't need an appointment, you go in like the ER. but they have office hours, they are open like from 8am until 6pm, 7 days a week and there are several different drs there so you may never see the same one twice. If your dr cannot see you fairly soon then I would look for one of those. I would want to see a dr within 2 days because of the pain and chances are you need an antibiotic.

If you're a swimmer that could explain your ear pain as well as your dizziness. Other reasons for ear pain and dizziness could be: viral infections like the flu or a cold, ear infections which often times need an antibiotic to clear, Meniere's Disease and other more serious but unlikely problems.

The website I have included at the bottom of this page talks about various problems that can be contributing factors when it comes to dizziness.

After you read the information, please take time to contact your family doctor for an appointment so the source of your dizziness can be found and treated.

Sounds like an ear infection to me so you should go to the Dr and get some antibiotics or you could try to self treat first with Advil cold and sinus and polysporin ear drops, Optimyxin is the cheaper brand you can get that works just as well. Until you have tried to cure the earache and seen a Dr I would not worry about it being a brain tumor.

Unfortunately I am not a physician but I will suggest that you visit a doctor as soon as possible.

Though I'll say that I had a friend in high school that developed a brain tumor with no apparent signs to him. It was successfully removed and to this day he leads a very healthy and happy life.

Chances are you have common problems, go get it checked out and don't worry.

It does sound like an ear infection i am afraid, and i know how really painful that is myself. There is really not a lot you can do except get some antibiotics as soon as you can, perhaps phone your out of hours surgery and try to get there and maybe take some painkillers in the meanwhile, try a hot (but warm) water bottle and lay on it to ease the pain, poor you :}

If you have a history of sinus infections, then that's probably what's causing the ear infections. Go see an ENT doctor. (Ear, nose, & throat specialist.) If you have chronic sinus infections, it could possibly be corrected with surgery. Which is cool, because that would mean no more pain!
