i found out today that my dad had a "minor" heart attack on monday, but i don't exactly know what that means. he had to have surgery as well. so does that meanit was something big or just something that means nothing at all?

typically NO surgery should be allowed for a few weeks after a heart attack, monir or major. Any surgery stresses the heart and possesses (excuse the spelling) the risk of inducing another heart attack

Anytime that you have to have anything done to the Heart consider this a Major thing. There is no such thing as a minor heart attack....There are silent heart attacks...When the enzyme levels are raised to a certain level in the blood you have had a heart attack. My best guess and that is just what it is , the doctor might do and angiogram (ultra sound of the heart) or Angioplasty(balloon surgery to open an artery in the heart or around it). If he is to have Open Heart Surgery it does not get much more Major than that. Been there....

Well, anything involving your heart would be serious. My dad had a very minor heart attack while he was sleeping about 2 years ago (he didn't even wake up or anything, just woke up in the morning and his chest hurt enough that he knew something was wrong and my mom took him to the hospital) he was there about a few weeks and after about a week? maybe two? he had quintuple bypass surgery to clean out his arteries that were clogged. It's something serious, but don't be all freaked out about it or anything, the doctors do the best they can, and they wouldn't have done surgery so soon if they thought it would kill him so soon after a heart attack.
