Don't they know that 'this too will pass?"
Six month's ago, My daughter's best friend's fiance killed himself 2 months before their wedding. Her close friend overdosed with alcohol and pain killers three months ago and now her other friend's brother killed himself tonight. I'm so concerned for her. She went to counseling with her best friend when the fiance killed himself and said it just made things worse. Any suggestions? I'm so scared with the pain she is enduring and the pain she endures for her friends She was just getting over the friend who overdosed and now this.

My daughter and her friends are all good kids. The are certified vet techs. The friend who overdosed was recently divorced and his exwife moved out of the country with his only son which devistated him. Please don't cast stones...I am asking for help for a good kid with good friends.

Wow. Poor thing. Since she won't go to counseling, then I would just say to be there for her when she needs you. Keep an eye on her. Try to help her find ways to cope, physical exertion helps too. If she does start talking about not wanting to live, or just not acting like you think she should, at least for any length of time, say a few days, I would talk her into counseling again. Maybe with a different counselor.

Suicide is a very real thing. I know people who have taken their own lives! I know it's hard, but the first step is acknowledging that you need help. then is getting the help! Which is where I'm up to in my life! I can't really suggest much except therapy and medication! Although at first my Depression has made me more suicidal, so be careful. Just be there for for you're daughter, sometimes all one needs is a supportive, loving friend! Good luck!

I think you need to get your daughter away from the situation she's in now!! Make a fresh start somewhere else.
Make sure she knows that suicide is the most selfish statement a person can make......that all they care about are themselves and their problems, they don't care about what their death would do to the people that love them, and she should know how that feels, she's been through it twice>
Good Luck

people feel like they cannot continue with their life and decide to end it all. they dont think of the people that will be hurt through their actions. i understand why people kill themselves, i know that i often have thoughts. but i would never do it no way

she needs to see a doctor/psych if she cannot cope. good luck

Are they on anti depressants already. those damn pills are not good! The depression sneaks up on you. And with kids it is hormones and life in general. Just talk to her and help her deal and watch for changes in personality even if it is quick changes. watch eyes, movements, and different words she uses. Language changes like cussing, or stop cussing, clothes changes. stops talking, sleeps alot. and so forth.

You need to get her all the help you can ASAP! I mean see your family Physician. See counselors and teachers at school, clergy and youth group leaders. Get them all surrounding her with protection and love. Kids do kind of like "catch" this from each other now a days.

I'm so concerned for her I am praying for her protection right now. Try getting her involved in something new like a sport or dance or art or something where she can express herself.

What i think is best is to move!! if everyone of her friends start to kill themselves, i think thats a sign to move her far away so she doesnt get the impression that she needs to do it too.
