Dont do it, it is becase the speakers send out a magnetic spread sprectum and the ray tubes (red, blue, and green) are like counfused and send the wrong signles out. If you get a purple spot, it will grow and get bigger, eventually it will burn itself into the tv screen. This is verry expensive to repair. I idid this same thing and a 13 inch colour regulet tv cost me over 80 dollers to repair! That is almost as much as it cost brand new. Your best bet is get magnetially shielded speakers like what are used for computer speakers. Or put them at least two feet from your tv.

Your speakers are not magnetically shielded, and your speaker's magnets inside are pulling against the TVs picture tube.

To solve the problem: keep the speakers away from the picture tube because it is possible to cause damage to your TV. Or, get speakers that are "magnetically shielded" to be able to position near the TV without interference.

You are "Gausing" the electron beam that makes the picture in your CRT type Television. Your speakers are not shielded so their magnets throw off the beams from making the right color. (your CRT televisions generate red, yellow and green beams from the electron gun at the back of the tube, these beams make your color picture by scanning the phosphorus coating on the inside of the screen) Placing a speaker near the screen causes the funny colors and if left there too long can permanantly cause the discoloration. Then you have to get a real heavy duty "degausing magnet" to fix the problem. Normally the newer TVs de gause themselves everytime you turn them on.

Magnets in your speakers. If you keep them a few feet away from you TV the picture should clear up. If you leave them near the TV the magnets can permanently cause colored blotches on your TV screen.

You have three choices:

1) Don't put the speakers near the TV

2) Get speakers that are shielded for use near a tube TV

3) Get a non-tube TV such as LCD or Plasma
