Plead NOT GUILTY -- Tell the judge that the ticket is DEFECTIVE and show him the mistake.

You have nothing to lose.

If you are found guilty, ask the judge if you can pay the fine in installments. He will probably say yes.

Dress nicely as you can for the court appearance. Call the judge "your honor."

BONUS: If the cop doesn't show up: ask the judge to dismiss the ticket rather than postpone the hearing.

Good luck!

I had the same sort of thing happen to me once. I grew up in Missouri, but got a speeding ticket in Iowa. When the cop gave me the ticket, he got the state abbreviations wrong... He got it right for one part (MO), but used the abbreviation for Michigan (MI) in another section of the ticket. I wasn't going all the way back to Iowa to fight a speeding ticket, so I just sent in the check for it, with a scathing letter stating that Iowa needed to send their state cops back to school, because if they couldn't even get their state abbreviations correct, god only knew what else they were getting wrong. I never knew if it was because of the letter, or because I didn't go to court, and therefore didn't actually have to pay the court costs, but I got a check in the mail a few weeks later, from the court where the speeding ticket was issued. It wasn't for the whole amount of the ticket, but Hey, money back is money back.

No. I once had a cop issue me a ticket with the address to the court in a different county, They're human too and allowed to make mistakes.

Doubt it.

A cop gave my girlfriend a ticket for going through a yellow light, and wrote down that she had a blue car. It was pine green.

Apparently he wasn't qualified to tell the difference between colors, unless it was going to make the state money.

sorry ! if your drives lic number and address are correct and tag number, you will have to pay the fine. I don't want to sound mean, but if you know that you can not afford a speeding ticket, then why do you speed? call city hall and make arrangements to pay part of the ticket, during a 2 month period

certainly not...nice try though, hahaha, no really, your name is all they really need and you signed it [the ticket], just make payment arrangements and pay it, some states will take your license over not paying it.
good one, and good luck.
