It's probably the fact that their religious belief systems require them to be that way. A religious belief system needs to make belief attractive, and that generally means convincing believers that they're special in some way. Since they can't rely on having believers who really ARE special (there wouldn't be enough of them), the best way to do that is to convince the believers that others are simply not as good as them. That means making believers judgmental of non-believers.
Of course those belief systems probably also tend to attract people who are somewhat judgmental to begin with.

i know you said for 'non-christians' and i'm a christain so sorry but the answer is basically not that they are judgemental, but what they are judging you on. everyone is judgemental in some way or form and always judge upon the standards they hold as 'right' or 'the best.' EVERYONE does this, not just religeous ppl, but christians are obviously not an exception, along with atheists and rich ppl and poor ppl and any other standard by which the human race can find to judge one another.

I was always told that a good christian or believer does not judge. There is only ONE judge and that would be GOD. But many religious people judge you if you dont believe in their particular religion and try to pressure you into their beliefs.

Every subculture has judgmental people. Christianity is by far not the only one... it just happens to be a very large subculture. Look around you - I'm sure you can think of many other people from other groups that are judgmental, and oftentimes for similar reasons.

A true christian or non-christian shouldn't be judgmental period. of course they are but it goes against all spiritual teachings of any religion. God is the ultimate judge however you spell the name!

Um, let's see... John 14:6 seems to ring a bell... hrmmm...
"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Seems like they're rather conceited as well.

Anyone - christian, muslim, atheist, etc. - who concentrates on rules, dogma, and beliefs to separate from others instead of trying to connect will be judgemental. I know I do it all the time:)

Why are non Christians judge-mental? Because they live lawless and it affects society and the world around them. Christians wants unbelieving sinners to repent and live godly lives and not send themselves to Hell.

It is just they are so wanting to save a soul they over look the possibility that there over zealousness make them judgmental and that is a sin. Forgive them my friend as they know not what they do.
