The Olympics in Beijing will be amazing. My best advice is to plan early and get your tickets early. It will probably be very expensive because prices will be raised to earn better profits. Unlike Athens, I don't think that low attendance will be a problem. If possible visit some surrounding cities as well because you don't get to visit China everyday.

Find out the proposed calender of events from IOC so that you know which place to go to and stay to watch your favourite event. Otherwise you may end up just watchinh any sports where you are.
You may want to do early bookings as there might be heavy block bookings from organisations as the time nears.
