Everyone persists that Moses wrote it yet it does not say it there is no record stating how Moses got it. At least in the modern version. I believe most scholars would say that Moses wrote the book of Genesis, but the original story was probably passed on from generation through Noah.

Gen is also known as the first book of Moses.... or 1 Mosheh
Moses is accredited with the penning of the first 5 books of the old testament or the Torah (the books of the law)
