yes it is a sin of higher hierchy -- meaning there is no forgiveness for it. God says that a person who commits suicide will keep dying the same way until eternity in Hell.
and remember -- tough times dont last long, but tough people do.

God says not to kill. That makes killing yourself a sin. Is it a sin that will send you to hell? No. Only rejecting Jesus as your Saviour can do that.
