When virtually every scientist from climatologists, paleoclimatologists, geologists, meterologists, physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, chemists.... all from around the world, those with and without political agendas are saying that Global Warming is a real phenomena and occuring now, exactly who are you going to trust?

Still, isn't it better to err on the side of caution rather than be told "I told you so"?

If Global Warming and climate change is a hoax, it's one being perpetrated by a majority of the credible scientific community across the entire globe. LOOK at the information available and read the information for yourself.

**Due to core samples, we have measurements of atmospheric carbon levels dating back 2000 years. In the past 200 years alone, we have gone from having atmospheric carbon levels of around 290 parts per million spiking to over 400 parts per million now. In geologic time, that's an unprecedented release of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere rivaled by no other event so far measured by paleoclimatologists. Scientists KNOW for a fact that the carbon has come from the burning of fossil fuels. That has never been a question.

**Corresponding with this release in carbon dioxide, our global temperature has raised by nearly a full degree centigrade. Doesn't seem like much does it? Try to wrap your brain around this... take an ordinary pot of water, bring it to boil... how long did it take? Now double the amount of water... how long did it take? Now take a bathtub full of water and place it on your range stove and tell me how long it will take? Imagine if you will the total gas content of the atmosphere... how much heat is needed to raise the entire atmosphere by a single degree centigrade?

Now people seem to be saying that humans aren't capable of making that kind of change.... we're not producing the heat, we're producing the carbon that's trapping the heat. The sun is what's producing the heat... we're just facillitating the warming process. The greenhouse effect has NEVER been in doubt, what was in doubt was if human activities could ever contribute enough to create enough carbon to cause a warming effect. All the scientific research has said, "YES!"

Look at the graphical information here:

http://www.brighton73.freeserve.co.uk/gw/paleo/paleoclimate.htm#ghg_cause

Here are some before and after photos of some glaciers:

http://www.nichols.edu/departments/Glacier/nccent.htm

Glaciers which normally take thousands of years to form are all retreating and melting within only decades. Say scientists are lying, but the photographic evidence does not. Say the Earth is warming but humans aren't the cause and it's a natural cycle.

But can you afford to be wrong? Within 50 to 100 more years, the truth will be told, but do you want to tell the decendents of residents of the former NYC and Miami that you didn't do anything to try to change the outcome when you had a chance?

Feel free to laugh at me and say I'm a pitiful alarmist if I'm proven to be wrong... but I'll be able to sleep fine either way knowing that I tried my best to stop Global Warming (whether or not it is a lie)

As far as your second part of your question... the only way to stop Global Warming is to stop releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere... you do your part by reducing what's called your carbon footprint. Recycle more, use less, abuse less energy and natural resources.

As a geologist, I learned that earth has undergone lots of changes over time. I get the impression most people think sea levels are static and temperatures were normally where they are now over time. Sea levels are never static (constant), they always change. Climates have been changing too. It has been generally warming for at least 10,000 years but there have been minor cooling and warming periods within that 10,000 years. Now we are on a warming period. The correlation of temperature to CO2 levels is very interesting but I am not convinced that naturally rising temperatures aren't resulting in some of the rising CO2 levels (rather than the usually presumed other way around). In the 1800's the scare mongers were worried about global cooling, then in the 1930's there was a global warming scare, in the 60s and 70 we were back to global cooling and now we are back to warming again. I'm just not ready to start crying "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" everytime we have a change in cyclical climate patterns.

Global climate change is occurring. It always has and always will. Human influence is real but so are a lot of other things. Take for instance methane gas. A great deal has been said about cow flatulence as a green house gas. It is but the lowly termite on a global scale emit more methane than all the herbivores combined. So much for that B.S.

Ever hear of the Ice Age? Wouldn't be surprised to learn a tree hugging Neanderthal ran around " Global Warming! Put out all your campfires!

It's definitely real. It is caused by the combustion of all of the fuels, which releases CO2 which acts like a greenhouse, trapping in all of the air which is warmed by the sun. We need to find cleaner energy and stop driving gas guzzler cars that take 10 miles to the gallon when there are cars that can take at least 30. Be smart, and don't buy an SUV. Walk/bike whenever possible. Carpool. Turn off things when they are not in use. Don't cut down trees or green plants because they use our CO2 and the more we cut down, the more CO2 that we add to the rising amount. Be smart.

The Earth's climate has been in flux for hundreds of millions of years. At the height of the last ice age about 18,000 years ago, large portions of Europe, Asia, and North America were covered with ice. The accumulation of polar ice dropped the global sea level to about 120 meters (400 feet) belong current sea level. Ice age people walked from Siberia to Alaska, from France to Britain, and from Malaysia to Indonesia.

The Earth has been warming for about 18,000 years now. Scientists estimate that we should be nearing the peak of our interglacial warm cycle. Instead warming seems to be accelerating. Many scientists fear that human activity has exacerbated the Earth's warming.

We can start now to reduce the impact of human activity on the Earth's climate. Unfortunately, human activity will continue to affect the Earth's climate for thousands of years to come.

Its definately real, Here in Malaysia the temperature has increased a lot these past few years, same thing is happening in the UK. We can help slow down or completely stop global warming by minimising the amount of pollution we throw in the atmosphere, halting slash burning of trees in many countries etc..

Jose says it's inevitable for us to die anyway. So, I guess he has this fatalistic approach, choosing not to do anything about global warming in an attempt to save future generations. As with most self-absorbed people, he only worries about himself and his own time.
Global warming is no hoax. It is probably the #1 threat to mankind, certainly more of a threat than the Bush administration's obsession with terrorism. Only problem is Bush can't fund the military-industrial complex if he fights global warming, so he chooses instead to ignore it and carry on illegal and unconstitutional wars that require tanks, guns, missiles, and fighter jets built by war-profiteers.
It would be a lot better if we would focus on global warming and invest our time, energy and resources in trying to combat this incredible natural event. If we don't, Jose's grandchildren and great-grandchildren won't live in the kind of world we know today. -RKO-

It's real!!!!!!!!!! And we need to change the way we manufacture products and Install Solar Panels on our roofs or Set up wind mills in our yards. More people should rely on companies that supply power from renewable Energy sources. Designing more Buildings and cars that are Eco-friendly and Energy Efficient. People should tell Cindy Crawford that is an Issue more Important than Cancer!!!!

My wife is a scientist and she works in the field. The majority of scientists believe that global warming is real. You can start researching the topic with a few links I provided below. The Princeton link actually talks about a variety of strategies that deal with the reportedly major source of heating up our atmosphere (CO2)

On a side note, most everyone I know tells me that it is warmer now than when they grew up.

Nothing can be done about it. Global warming is just Nature's way of warming up this planet to the level it was at prior to the Ice Ages. If Mother Nature is cold she tells you to put on a coat, and she raises the thermostat a few notches. Learn to live with it.
