i am trying to ditch my 10 years relationship with an abusive man..
i was thinking about getting a restain order. Any better ideas?
i dont even want him to email me anymore . but he does

change your email address, change phone number, and or all your contact info....
try it, if that doesnt work..........get a r.o.

Depends on the situation. Since he was abusive towards you I would strongly recommend changing everything that might lead him to you. Where you live, where you work (if he knows these), your phone #, your e-mail....everything. Restraining orders generally don't keep these type of moronic men away from you; it usually enboldens them. It's a good idea to do, though, should anything happen later. But I would cut him off completely. You didn't state if you had any children together. But if you do, then it becomes harder to keep him away.
If there are children involved I would consult with a family attorney ASAP.

Ten years is a very long history.....this will be alot of disentanlgement for you..... and he will not give in easily. Definetly follow thru with the restraining order. Delete his emails. Don't answer his phone calls.......change your # if possible and your email address. I've not dealt with this on a personal level but I believe cutting off all contact will be a start(?) The retraining order will document your intentions in the eyes of the law.

Put his email address on your spam blocker and have it blocked. Go get a restraining order done because it sounds like you are scared he will come and stalk you and beat you up. Change all your locks and keep your windows and doors locked all times you are home and gone. Move when you can and dont leave a forwarding address with your postal office...give everyone important that info. Put passwords on all your bill accounts so he cant call and get info on them or have them shut off.

change yor e mail adress,your phone number and dont talk to him any more,its hard to end a relationship but abusive men never change,i know first hand and whatever you do dont tell him that there is someone else,you are asking for trouble
