Many die of dehydration......It is very sad and a horrible way to die....I have cousins in border patrol who have saved illegals from death via drowning, dehydration, hot stroke....I agree, those people didnt need to die simply because of trying to come here for a better life....They are literally dying to get in...

June 16, 2006 -- Another illegal immigrant dies
in the blistering sun crossing into the U.S.
topping the number of deaths this month alone
in the New Mexico desert.
Chief Armijo says illegal immigrant deaths
are a daily occurrence and compared to last summer
this year the numbers are spiking.
Last year the entire summer months
the total number of immigrant deaths reached nine.
This year they have nine in a matter of weeks.
The most recent discovery made early Friday morning
along mile marker 95 near highway 9 near Columbus. Border Patrol agents in the area encountered t
he female body about 300 yards South of the roadway.
New Mexico State Police believe
the body had been out in the desert
anywhere from three to five days
because it was beginning to decompose.
Generally if there's a weak member of the group
or if someone begins to suffer from heat exhaustion
or exposure or has a significant injury,
generally they are left where they are at,"
said Lieutenant Rich Libcer with New Mexico State Police.
WE Are Being Told To Have "Compassion"
Because ILLEGAL Aliens Are Dying In The Desert
Trying To ILLEGALLY Cross Our Border
Yet They Will Leave Their Own Compadres
To Die In The Desert
If They Dont Give A CRAPP About THEM
What Makes You THINK They Really Give A CRAPP
About You And Me (Citizens) Or Our Nation ??
They Only Care About Themselves
Its A Code Of Honor Among US Soldiers
That NOONE Will Be Left Behind
Dead Or Alive
These People Have No Honor At All
Like The Old Saying Goes
No Honor Among Thieves
It Is NOT The Fault Of American Citizens
That They Are Dying In The Desert
STOP Blaming Us For THEIR STUPIDITY
And STOP Trying To GUILT Us Into Believing That It Is

No. no remember how ambitious the defenses, you won't be able to quit the move of determined those with walls and mines. Gaza is thoroughly fenced in, yet their border is riddled with tunnels. The East Germans tried to thoroughly seal their border. that they had a 3km no-guy's land that ran for 850 miles. It change into full of walls, mines, traps, seem after towers and 50,000 troops with orders to shoot to kill. between 1948 and 1991, 591 persons were killed, one hundred twenty 5,000 jailed (basic a million to three years) yet 15 million escaped to the west, some through crossing the fence, some through hiding in autos, some through making use of solid archives, and many with the help of third international locations or being ransomed. it really is ironic that a lot of a similar those who stated as for the dismantling of that wall, as an emblem of tyranny, opt to construct one among their personal. Fences can re-direct site visitors from populated parts and Patrol brokers can attempt to capture smugglers, even if the in worry-free words thanks to quit unlawful border crossing is to address the underlying causes and furnish legal options.

Nobody would die in the dessert if they stayed where they were.
I do feel sad about the people who die out there, this is another reason why we need to beef up patrols on the border, so that we can save lives and send them back.

anyone who says they wish more people would die is just an idiot..I would say it different but it wouldnt be printed.
I have been on teh Border for 15 months now, and have seen only one die due to dehydration this year, but 5 due to car accidents, and a few more that went into ICU that may have died.
I am more than happy to arrest someone coming accross the border but hate to see them get killed, we always try and convey the danger to them but they do not take it seriously until it is too late for them or someone close to them. I am actually surprised more dont die from rattlesnakes, I come across at least 5 a night
I would like to see better access to the border for agents, having to comb the desert from miles away just is stupid, let me patroil the border

I feel terrible. It's entirely our fault as a nation that we don't have a 20 foot, electrified, surveilled, national guarded wall along the entire border so no one will ever try to enter the US illegally.
As for your second question, they are entirely given a chance to come to the US legally. Thousands of people from nearly all countries are allowed into the US legally every year to be students, as skilled workers, and as wives of Americans. This number is fair and controlled. If less illegal immigrants came to the US every year then more legal immigrants would be allowed. The whole world should be outraged at these Mexicans who even dare try to do illegally what my wife did after years of struggle.

Estimates? 300-400. True number? Who knows, the border is a big lonely place. Why? They want to come to America.
How do I feel about it? They should stay out the desert & go home. Do I feel Sad about it? No more or less than anybody dying in my own nieghborhood. They do have a chance to come legally. They don't want to play by the rules like everyone else........................
Most die from dehydration, exposure & murder by smugglers . Not lack of food.

Not enough. I could never feel sad about it. I am glad about it. These are the same criminals who disrespect my country and my people when they make it over here. Remember May 1? Hell no, I don't feel sad about it. I wish it would happen more.
If you are going to be stupid, you better be tough.
JD has a great answer too.

They take the risk of their own free will. They should be prepared. Unfortunately, I do not feel any emotion about their deaths. They have a chance to come in legally but do not want to wait. Its their choice.

Mexico's presidents/their government employees have encouraged their poor people to come here to the USA for jobs and for medical help. If their country weren't so corrupt and did more to encourage education the poor mexicans would stay in their own country and work. All I know is that the hospitals in my district are filled with illegals giving birth to their newborn american babies....... our laws must be changed ! PLEASE VOTE

They are more likely to die from the heat and lack of water. One of the worst killers are the Coyotes. The Hispanics pay and the Coyote is supposed to smuggle them in. They are often abandoned in the middle of nowhere . Others have locked them in cattle car to die of heat prostration. The cars never moved. There are too many stories of the Coyotes cruelty.
I believe the Border Guards should be trained to deal with illegals in a firm but decent manner when they are apprehended.
I have never heard of an illegal physically hurting anyone. I have never heard of one ever being armed. They are for the most part harmless, so to suggest hurting them is beneath decency..
