My only thought is he'll do it in his own time, if all his other skills are up to what it should be for his age I'd not worry too much...he may just not be ready. If there are concerns in other areas I'd call your doctor.

Standing IS a great step towards walking! He/she will get it eventually. My baby was just about 13 months when she started with the standing and walking while holding onto furniture. Now she's just over 14 months and is walking ALOT more. Still unbalanced a bit, but a definite improvement. Every baby is different. Just be patient, he/she will walk :)

One of mine walked at 8 months the next at 14 months.

Babies walk when they are ready.

I would continue to encourage the child once per day and make a game out of it with you and whomever else is nearby stand him in the center and ask or encourrage him to try walking to one of you. Show a favorite toy or make faces to get his attention. if after 15 minutes he hasn't tried then give him a hug and reassure him that he is growing up and so fast...etc.

Try that once per day for about two weeks and I'm betting he takes a step for you.

Beware however---once the walk its short time until they run- so get your jogging shoes ready if you want to keep up with him!!

Stop carrying him around the house. If you go in to the kitchen, encourage him to follow you. He will become tired of crawling around behind you. Also, that is pretty normal, especially for a boy. My son was about 14 months before he walked. I would let him walk beside me and as long as he held on to one of my hands he would walk. Then I started holding on to his wrist after a while instead of his hand. Then when he got going good I would let go and he'd never notice. Good luck and don't worry. Before you know it you will be missing those days when he couldn't walk!

I guess if he doesn't walk he crawls everywhere. There are a lot of toys on the market (i.e. Walking Elmo) that persuade kids to walk. Here's a thing to try: Get your child to stand up, and hold his/her hand so she/he doesn't fall down. Then start walking, and persuade your child to take a step, one at a time, carefully. You can reward them with a treat or bake something with them! Happy walking :)

Just saw your question on internet, Does he know how to crawl up the stairs?
If he is not walking in a few weeks take him in for routine tests, My grand son was very slow in walking and we finally had a rx of Muscular Dystropy, Duchennes to be exact, Also don't let Doctors or other people tell you he's just lazy and Best of Luck to you and your baby.

I would ask the pediatrician what her feelings are. If the child id developing normally in other areas, no prob, but if not- you may need some help. Lots of kids are walking later these days because Moms keep picking them up. Mine walked to me for Jello. i'm sure the babe is fine. No worries.

He will know when he is ready to let go and start walking. My son was 15 months before he started walking. I was told by my mother that I was about 18 months before I started walking.

He will take off when he is ready and that means that you will need to be ready... when he takes off he will take off running instead of walking. So get your running shoes on.

Try to help her by taking his hand and make some steps.Try to stay 3 steps away from him and call him to come(of course you have to be sit or at least in squatting position.Don't worry!I have 7 kids. They started to walk at different ages, here they are:Jennifer(9 months),Robert(12 months),Kateline(14 months),John(11 months),Emma(10 months),Benjamin(13 months),Sandra(12 months). So,don't worry! The child will start walking when it feels like it.Actually Kateline started to walk when she was 10 months, but she fell, got scared and refused walking until she was 14 months.
