We're going on our first romantic vacation without the kids. It will be romantic, but not because HE's going to make it that way. I'm bringing the surprises... candles, massage oil, other goodies... but I wish more than anything that HE would've thought of these things. How can I ask him to be the romantic one without contriving the situation? You know how its not romantic if you have to tell him what to do...

I know exactly what you mean! My husband isn't the most romantic person, but he's a good man and we've been happily married for 23 years. But last year, I found out that romance isn't everything. I injured my back several years ago, and suffered in pain for quite a few years. One day, I woke up and couldn't get out of bed. I ended up in the hospital for a week not being able to walk. After a week, they sent me home to wait for comp to approve my back surgery. For three and a half months, my husband had to do everything for me. Not only couldn't I walk, I couldn't sit, the only position I could be in was flat on my stomach. He washed my hair, he brushed my teeth, I was 100 percent disabled. All I could do was cry and moan. Now imagine, if I wasn't able to even brush my teeth, I certainly couldn't do my daily business, so yes, he had to do that for me too. I lost all sense of pride, but he took care of me and never once complained. He had to do all the laundry, cooking, etc.

I wouldn't trade him for anything. So, if you feel that you must have some romance, buy the candles, massage oil, etc., and he'll respond to it. But don't expect him to think of the ideas. And besides, it kinda stinks having to tell them...because then you feel like...geeze if I have to tell you it's not special. (hard to put into words) But I'm sure once he sees the candles and you give him a massage, he'll return the favor!

Good luck!!!!

Men don't usually think about the romantic stuff - Try and talk about what you were thinking of before you go on the trip

"If its not broken don't fix it"

If he believes your happy then why would he try and do something abnormal unless its in his nature which in most cases it wont be.

Communication, you need to tell him what you want, just keep it simple like i want you to do more romantic things for me, i would really appreciate it and it would make me happier in turn making you much more happy (toss in a wink or some nipple rubbing shiz in there)

BOOYEAH!

You can have his friends or family members drop clues or hints to him. That way he will think that it is his idea. Peace and God bless.
