im so confused about religion. i grew up being told that god loves everyone and hearing all the cute little stories from the bible and all of that stuff. now as an adult i tried reading the bible and it seems so different then what they teach you as a kid. the bible seems scary and its full of killing, sacraficing animals, and it just seems like there is so much hate in it. it threatens with burning in hell and it doesnt seem like someone who loved us all so much would do those kinds of things. we are suppose to be his children i know no matter how much i betrayed my parents they wouldnt set me on fire. im just so confused. and the gay thing why would god make some one gay and then send them to hell for it? and you cant say being gay is a choice because they have done studies and there is actually something different in their brains. i went from being little and hearing all those wonderful things about it to being an adult and trying to read the bible only to find out god seems mean

First of all be care-full what you hear, be open minded, and understanding.

God is love, compassionate, but, and yes He takes life, perhaps when there is no other way, God protects who he considers his, that are doing his will at the time.

The entire law is summed up in a single command:
"Love your neighbor as yourself." Galatians 5:14 (LB)

God Love's the gay, murderer, rapist, all, God knows that we all have the ability to change, that's why he love us all the same.

God is compassionate, and has mercy on us, God would give you every chance in Heaven to save you from Hell. There is a lot of negative answers out there that are not right, use your heart to feel the truth, that's the closes-es connection to God

Jesus died, beating, whipped to pieces, nailed with large nails to a cross, cries out to Father in pain, to save us from Hell.

Jesus said, " If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31- 32 (KJV)

The bible you are reading is most likely not an accurate translation of the original scriptures written in Hebrew. When the scriptures were translated into English it was done under the supervision of men that worship gods and goddesses. They wanted it to support their belife that is what you read today as the so called scriptures. They took out the name of the creator which is Yahweh. and replaced it with titles, such as lord, god, jesus, and christ. These are just that titles not the Creators name. His sons name is Yahshua not jesus. Yahshua means, Yahweh is salvation. They also use their version of the scriptures to say that Yahweh is a vengeful being. Which is not true. He is our loving heavenly Father that supplies our every need. Why would he do that to kill us? You are right about that. As far as the gay issue people have been subject to many things throughout the these generations that have caused the curses to come down to the people to third and fourth generation. It's not that they are meant to be gay but they have confussed genetics which keeping them from knowing how to choose differently.
You have to read the scriptures in the original Hebrew to be able to understand what the true message of the Creator Father Yahweh is. I know you are probably saying to yourself I can't read Hebrew. There is a translation of the scriptures in english that has been taken from the original Hebrew manuscriptes. It's called The book of Yahweh The Holy Scriptures. Here's a site where you can preveiw this translation. I hope it helps with all your questions.

What you need is some serious faith education before you try to wring more from the Bible, all by yourself.

Find someone who knows about all these issues, as well as the Christian faith, and listen to them.

As for gay studies ... don't kid yourself. Most of the "gay" studies have been conducted by those attempting to further a gay agenda.

Any truly unbiased and "blind" studies show no genetic tendencies, and indicate that homosexuality is a preference, just like many others.

Finally, God owes nothing but wrath to those who fail to accept him and fail to acknowledge him as their savior.

Since his saving work hadn't yet taken place in Old Testament times, that's why you see so much death and destruction going on back then.

It was often the only way God could get anyone's attention.

Today, we are fortunate to live in the age of grace. Those of us who are willing to faithfully cooperate with God's divine will have nothing at all to fear from him, and are assured of his eternal love and forgiveness.

Cooperating with God's grace now, is much smarter than risking his judgment, later.

It's that simple.

My, my you certainly are confused.

God is not a mean, unloving, uncaring, vengeful God. The Bible says" God is love". You are having a very difficult time understanding the Bible because you don't understand the purpose of God and his divine plan to redeem man from that terrible place called hell, that he created for Satan and his followers. This is so simple my friend. God created you, He is your loving father and desires a relationship with you through his son Jesus Christ who he sent to sacrifice for all of our sins. All He asks is for us to believe on Christ, who he was and what he did to redeem man. "John 3:16 " tells all you need to know about who Jesus was and what he did and what is required of you which is belief on Jesus. If you get to the place to where you look on Jesus and see him stretched out on a cross, with his sinless blood running down his body, paying for your sin and are crushed that your sin put him there and want to folllow him because of what he has done for you, then all of this will begin to make sense. None of the stories in the old testement will make any sense until you find Christ, then you will begin to see that all the other stuff were just lessons pointing to Jesus as the only way. I am pulling for as I'm sure many other's here are as well. If you want direct help email me at rhenrynaa@yahoo.com and I'll help you any way I can. The Lord Jesus desires you.

It is scary. Ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been disconnected with our Creator. He was in an intimate, loving, face-to-face relationship with Adam and Eve, and He knew the law of sin is death. It isn't that He's mean, it is a natural law... like gravity holds us to the Earth by law, sin causes death by law. Since that time, He's been offering ways for us to re-enter into a right relationship with HIm. There was a lot of animal sacrifices and killing because a blood payment is always required for sin. It may seem extreme, but that is because we don't comprehend the serious nature of sin.

When He sent Jesus, Jesus's death and resurrection completed the Law, so we are no longer required to offer animal sacrifices (in fact, that's highly frowned upon) for failing at the Law. We are simply required to confess and forsake our sins, and trust in the Son who paid our penalty.

God is not mean, but He is angry at sin, and no one likes to hear that. But He is also full of love for us, and that's why He made a way to circumvent the natural law of sin=death.

Hell was created for Satan. Sinners who reject God will go to hell, because, once again, sin is serious. Being gay gets picked on but it's just like any other sin. And I'm not discounting that they might be born desiring that lifestyle -- because we're all born with sin natures. It's the curse we live under. And we battle our flesh.

I hope this helps. I'm sorry I didn't cite specific verses, but a big-picture thing seemed fitting. I like http://www.wayofthemaster.com for more info.

The Bible is to be accepted as given to us by God, and we accept what it says. You are confused because you are trying to make the Bible say what you want it to say. Who is God here? You or Him? We mostly reject what God says because it does not allow us to indulge in the type of sin that we want too. God does not make people gay, He gives them up to homosexuality because they have rejected His way.
Read Romans 1
"...they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

As children we learn about a warm fuzzy Jesus that loves us unconditionally.
As adults, we learn that God is a jealous God Who will not tolerate idolatry, or the worship of any other God. But He still loves us unconditionally; enough to send His Son to die for us.

The bloody, scary parts of the Bible are always about God's love for the truth, which is His Word.

From Psalms and Proverbs,

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.

The fear we have towards God is not a fear of terror or dread, unless you are a non-believer. As a believer, fear of the Lord is a deep respect for His power and abilities.

Dear one I see your frustration and can empathize with where you are.... I have been there myself many years ago. Realize this... God does love you dearly..... however he loves you enough to let you make your own decisions. God created hell for lucifer and the fallen.. not for man.... he created Heaven for man to be with him eternally. However if you choose that you dont want anything to do with God you deny his gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and do not want to be with him in heaven..... there is only one other alternative... there are only 2..... God condemns no one to hell.... they condemn themselves as we are shown in John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

He does not "want" any one to perish in hell.. 2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
But again allows us the freedom to make that choice even though it grieves his heart when we deny him.

As for the homosexual portion of your question.... Friend homosexuality is a choice... God would not create what his own word states is an abomination. I understand you said they have done studies.... but understand scientists and doctors have done studies for a very long time only to have the results of those studies proven wrong.. this is evident in the number of medicines that were approved showing no harmful side effects.... then later found out they caused cancer or other medical problems...... or how about the group of scientists that have now determined Pluto is no longer a planet in our solar system recently.... dosnt change the fact the planet is still there.
Yes there are things in the Bible that can be "in your face" and scary.... but when you read about when God destroyed a people for example... dont take it out of context... look at the entire thing .... how many times did God try to bring them to him... how many times did he try to guide them...... God can not and will not tolerate sin.... or a continued sinful nature.... refusal of him ....He does love you with a love more pure than this world has ever known... but he will not let you nor me nor anyone else dictate to him what he is going to allow us to do and what he isnt.... what he will accept and what he wont.... Its time we took a real hard long look at the Bible and asked ourself this question..... do we serve the God of creation..... or do we serve the God of our creation.....
May God bless and keep you... will be keeping you in prayer here.

we ARE God's children and He DOES love us. it's just that we (mankind) behave very badly, and He needs to get us right. God's love is not all sunshine and tulips like they teach us when we're kids. it can be tough, because He knows what is best for us. and He has wrath when His people disobey Him. but He is forgiving. everytime He shows wrath, He shows mercy. people are given many opportunities to change. He's just trying to save us from ourselves.

you should get into a good Bible study class. it will help you understand things better.
