There are a few bad places for pizza in Chicago but not many. Uno is a favorite of mine. Go early to avoid the long line. Sit at the bar for faster service. A block away is Due...same pie. Lou Malnati's and Connie's are small chains with a few locations scattered about. Both have thin, thick and deep dish styles.
Gino's East has 3 locations on the North side. Check phone book for addresses. Same goes for My Pie. This place uses the math symbol for pie. I can't make it in this keyboard.
Forget asking a hotel or cab driver. I would ask a cop. or even better a fireman. They've been working in the neighborhood you are in and know all the restaurants

I’d like to think that I’m a guy who knows my pizza. In the city of Chicago itself, I’d go with Giordano’s for the best pizza. A close second is Edwardo’s. Gino's East is right up there, although I feel that the place is a tourist trap. Lou Malnati's is the favorite of many, but I personally don’t think it’s all that great. Of course, it isn’t bad either. And avoid Uno’s because they’re merely edible and their sauce is watery. Also, be sure you know the difference between deep dish and stuffed. I highly recommend the stuffed pizza.
But my absolute favorite is a region-wide chain that operates out of many Chicago suburbs, Aurilio’s pizza. The best part is, if you like the pizza, you can order from them online and they’ll pack your pizza in dry ice and ship it anywhere in the country.

Are you from Chicago? and you have to ask that question?
I live 1 hour south of Chicago in Indiana, but we I venture north the first stop (if in the pizza mood) would be Lou Malnati's great pie, awesome salads! Gino's is good but come down our way and have the best damn pizza around at Aurillio's!

Gino's East.....Unbelieveable and you can write on the walls with a magic marker while you are there. Good fun for the whole family...but great, authentic deep-dish pizza!

Edwarrdo's is amazing, especially their stuffed spinach. Lou Malnati's is excellent as well. If you wantr late night delivery, try "Chicago's Best Pizza" (there are a few, either on Sheffield, Lincoln, etc.)

For me, the best deep dish pizza is at Carmen's. We go to the one on N. Sheridan by Loyola U. The stuffed spinach is incredible!
