Everyone's body chemistry is different, we are all made up different hereditary genes that are passed down from generation to generation such as high blood pressure and diabetes. These are contributing factors that when mix with excessive alcohol abuse will help deterioate your body faster. Alcohol abuse can also cause you to have sugar and high blood it will destroy your stomach and cause heart problems and you can also end up with renal failure. Alcoholism is hereditary and will and can destroy your life and the people around you.A true alcoholic can drink alot and handle it well and then it will get to where it does not take much at all for them to get drunk. There are different types of alcoholics such as functioning alcoholics to slopy alcoholics. I hope your friends find their way and find the Lord because he can completely deliver them from alcohol with no with drawls at all. I will help you pray for their deliverance. Where two or three are gathered in my name and believe it shall be done. Also, the people have to be willing to recieve help and sometimes God has to get people down to the bottom of the barrell before they realize they need help. May God Bless You and your friends.

I'm sorry for your pain, many other people are in your shoes. Alcoholism can start with the very first time a person drinks. It depends on why they start drinking, and some times their genetics also play a role. The physical problems can take many years, or a much shorter period of time. It can be different with each person. You are doing the right thing in praying about what to do. You can't make your friends save themselves, all you can do is let them know that you will support them. In that I mean support their healthy lifestyle choices. You can try and take the keys so they can't drive when your with them. Trust me I'm a firefighter and medical first responder, I seen too many times what happens when people combine drinking alcohol and driving a vehicle.

I am trying to deal with alcohol. It has major issues - physical (Alice Cooper said he went on the wagon when he peed blood). It's also has a social aspect - I haven't been out & done anything social in a couple of years - I prefer my own company & stay home with some tequila. Also - it costs alot of money.

The physical & financial issue took 2-3 years to reall make a difference. The social aspect took 6 months or so.

Now I have a 6-pack per night & have a headache from long-term alcohol poisoning - unless I drink a lite beer such as Miller light. If I drink Budweiser I feel like crap after a 6-pack.

All I can suggest - get your friends to go & do things with you - go play tennis, or something physical like hiking. Get them to spend time with you (instead of drinking). I think if people are honest, everyone WANTS to beat the booze - they just need good friends - please, make that your job.

When the person becomes dependent on it and needs it to fufill their needs physically or emotionally. If you keep seeing the same behavior a couple weeks from now, I would definitely sit them down and confront them about their problem. Just be supportive and let them know you care about their well-being.

As long as it takes to get behind the wheel of a car and kill an innocent person...I hope your friends get help. You might look into Al-Anon. They have meetings everywhere. Best of luck.
