You might do a search on exactly that, "the effects of child abuse on its victims"; it's so prevelant you'll probably come up with a ton. I never got beat; I was mentally and verbally abused growing up. But I know that physical abuse is more than just the bruises and broken bones. It beats you down, lowers your self esteem, makes you afraid, you live in fear of doing the wrong thing all the time, and children who are abused are more likely to grow up and become abusers simply because they've never learned how to properly express their anger.

Reasons 4 child abuse:
b/c love = feeling that cannot be forced
"It is probably easier for a parent to love a baby that was planned and desired than a baby that was an accident. Plus, the parents might be really nervous about having a child. They might not know how to be a mother, how to be a father. So their child becomes a source of stress to them, and they might resent him for that. They might see the child as a burden.
Also, the mother might be unconsciously jalous of her child. When you think about it, a woman gets a lot of attention when she is pregnant. She gets a lot of attention at the birth. After that, the baby gets all the attention. Taking care of a child is a lot of work, and people always seem more interested in the baby than the mother. For a woman who doesn't love her children, they are nothing but competition.
Parents sometimes don’t have sufficient emotional support for themselves. In fact, some parents are put under a lot of pressure because they have to deal with their own personal issues. Also, it happens quite often that parents don't understand their children. Sometimes they can't even understand themselves, therefore they can't solve their problems.
Such stress and personal distress can eventually lead to child abuse. Unfortunately, this occurrence is a lot more common that people would think. According to surveys, about five percent (5%) of children in the United States are thought to be victims of some form of abuse. Each year, more than three million (3 000 000) children are reported to american child protective services. That means that there are more than eight thousand (8000) people every day who are reported to authorities for abusing a child. Between one thousand (1 000) and fifteen hundred (1 500) children die of abuse or neglect in the United States every year."
Hope it helps! it's all part of an essay I did last year 4 my english class.

Through personal experience, people who get hit as a disciplinary action grow more maladjusted. They learn that violence is the way to deal with worldly problems and use it to teach people lessons. It never results in a good person being brought out. A parent shouldn't have to rule over there children through fear and pain. A loving nuturing relationship with the child through guidance, trial, and error, help make a creative growing experience. All a parent has to do is leave many choices, protect children from danger, and make uncrossable guidelines with well explained results. Also moreso than disciplinary action, good actions should be well rewarded. Hitler used to get beat so badly it wasn't uncommon for him to fall unconscious, and look what that turned into.

i think ppl decide to beat their children/child becuz either they have no self control or been through it as a child and it influenced them to make there children feel the pain they felt.to tell u the truth i dont think most ppl mean to beat their children the way they do because when they are hurt or fustrated they wanna let it out on their children cuz they think they have no other choice. if any other person beat their children other wise then that would be the first ive ever heard cuz ppl have to have a reason to beat their child. im TOTALLY against child abuse

I can tell you some of the effects.
These children sometimes become very angry and being so young and not knowing how to handle their emotions. Lash out at the very people trying to help them. Foster parents teachers etc. They can be living in a palace. Doesn't matter all they want is to go home to their parents.
If they are sexually abused they many times become so sexually active. These are the girls who will sleep with anybody and at anytime.
They have no self esteem.

not all children who were abused physically, mentally or otherwise turn out to be abusers themselves. Some tend to harbor anger(vicious anger,if you will) towards their abusers and toward anyone who abuses a child.
trust me.I know what I'm talking about.
