Panic attacks and anxiety disorder are very closely related, if not one and the same. According to the book I read, there's an underlying fear of something. Confronting it and reprogramming your thought processes (cognitive therapy, or cognitive behavior therapy) helps to relieve the chemical imbalance. The mind controls the chemicals (neurotransmitters) subconsciously, so if the subconscious mind is in fear all the time, the brain chemistry gets messed up and causes the conscious mind to be in a state of anxiety or panic all the time. Here's the book that cured me of depression/anxiety:

BTW, char g is dead wrong. Meds don't eliminate the problem... they mask it. Outside of a handful of vaccines, most medications (and doctors) CURE NOTHING!

Though I am not a medical expert, I think that you can have a panic attack. If the person who had it was really is scared then I can understand them having a panic attack. I had one in a grave yard once because I thought that I had seen something move.

Not necessairly, no. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrom and many of us have panic attacks. It's something we have never had before but we have it now. We can't really explain it, but it is common place for us and most of us have no anxiety disorders. Seems to just happen.

Panic attacks can be caused by different things. I started having them, talked to my doctor, and found out it was a result of an allergy to ibuprofen. I discontinued use, and they went away. Talk to your doctor.

It is an anxiety related disorder. If you go to a psychiatrist they will normally put you on an anti-anxiety medication like valium.
