First I'm a Christian. I have a traditional Christian up bringing and I do view Catholics as Christians too..I just didn't want any to feel excluded.

My questions is about Mormons. I have always have been told by many that they are a Christian cult because of the book of Mormon etc..and a variety of reasons.

And I really hate to feel this way about them.

I know several, I've never really had a deep discussion about religious beliefs but I know they are very good and honest people.

Is there any way there could ever be any unity with them...or is the divide too wide?
When they have come to my door I'm always very nice to them and they are really very polite and seem to have a real relationship with the Lord...they have the fruits of Christians...I know some of you are about to jump down my throat..but I was just wondering..

your thoughts........everyone..Moron etc...your thought's as well

If all Christians thought like you, I might have a bit more respect for your group as a whole =)

But to really answer your question, I don't really see any feasible way that two major religions are ever going to "merge." Now, if everyone converted to agnosticism, or Universal Unitarianism, or something like that, it might be a more peaceful world. The key being that the two above mentioned groups carry tenets wherein either (a) No one carries any certain knowledge about our origins/purpose or (b) Everyone's ideas about our origins/purpose carries truly equal validity. I don't know a lot about Mormonism, but having read the bible and knowing my fair share of Christians, while I think it's POSSIBLE that a mutual respect can be formed (and may, to a degree, already exist), I don't think a true "unity" is even possible according to the very edicts that define both. That is, I don't think they're ever going to stop trying to convert each other - and that in itself creates a kind of "implication" of disrespect, if you know what I mean.

Keep hopin', though =)

i'm perplexed by using your question. The Mormons are the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) LSD became a hallucinagentic drug used interior the 1960's. Catholicism and LDS are denominations of Christianity as are Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist and various others. Judaism became around long until now Christianity and has some distinctive lines to boot, alongside with Orthodox and Hasidic (sp?). there is not any such ingredient as Catholic or Jewish Mormons. i will additionally upload that even nevertheless I stated Mormons as a Christian denomination they are VERY break free from all different Christian denominations and are easily extra cultish than denominational.

I am LDS- "mormon"... I can't believe that every last comment on this page is lies. If your not mormon, how can you make comments on things you don't know are true.
1. We are not a cult. We are a religious sect, just like the Catholics.
2. We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. They are three separate beings.
3. We believe the bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
4. We do believe ourselves to be Christian. We don't worship anyone but God, not the founder of the church Joseph Smith, not Mormon, or any other man.
5. We follow the ten commandment, we pray to God, we do as other Christians do. We are no different.
6. We do have a prophet, Gordon B. Hickley, we do not worship him, but we do follow his council, just a Catholics follow the pope.

HOW DARE ANY OF YOU CONDEM A RELIGION THAT YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT!!!!!!

You can go to www.lds.org to look at our real beliefs.

As for those who are not interested in the truth, maybe you should think about where you will be headed in the after life. Spreading lies about another religion should be punishable!

Nobody said only Christians could be nice, honest people. It would certainly make things easier if that were true, but we live in the real world, and we all know it doesn't work that way!

The Mormon teaching is heretical. It is just another form of polytheistic gnosticism. Many gods and goddesses, secret knowledge, etc. The Jesus they preach about is NOT the same Jesus worshipped by the Catholics and Protestants; too many of the "essential elements" of the narrative have been changed.

Mormonism in a nutshell:

Once upon a time there was a god named YHWH. He was married to a goddess, whose name we don't know, and they had a lot of babies in heaven. Their first-born was named Jesus. Their second born was named Lucifer. After that, there were lots and lots of babies. Some were angels, and some were humans.

The human babies were going to be sent to a planet, where they could mature as beings and become gods and goddesses also. But how would this happen? So there was a conference in heaven. Jesus proposed giving the children freedom of choice and offering them the right path. Lucifer proposed "forcing" the children to become gods and goddesses. Lucifer's plan was rejected in favor of Jesus' plan, so Lucifer left in a huff.

Lucifer went to the rest of the baby spirits and proposed his idea. Some of the spirits sided with him...and became demons. Some of the human spirits decided against him, and became white people. Some of the baby human spirits couldn't decide, and became black people!

Skip ahead to the end of the book.....

Every good mormon man looks foreward to being god of his own planet someday, popluating it with spirits he makes with his goddess-wife...the woman he is married to now. Every good mormon woman looks foreward to being eternally pregnant, populating her husband's planet with their spiritual children. And the cycle will start allllll over again.

This is why there can be no agreement between the LDS folks and Christianity. They preach an entirely different "gospel".

I'm a Christian as well. I'm not a super Christian though, meaning that I have a lot of questions as well. I have more questions than I do actual feelings and beliefs I think. But one thing I do know is that you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Basically it doesn't matter if they are Mormon or catholic or Lutheran or Methodist or whatever. You take them as they are and be a good neighbor. That is why we have so many problems in this world. There are too many people who think they know what is good for everyone. If more people just stuck to what they believe and let the guy next to him believe in something else if he wants to, we would have a better world.

Mormonism is a religion founded byJoseph Smith Jr. who is considered a prophet. Their faith is based on the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible. Their church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They practice and tolerated polygamy. It's not a cult. To see a unity among christians, catholics, and mormons. is not forthcoming. Any more than the Jewish and Islam religions.

I feel that many Mormons are very nice people as well. I think the idea that they are a cult come from the extreme practices of some groups of Mormons. Such people as Tom Green (not that one), who is an avid polygamist. Some groups also isolate themselves from the rest society, which probably sets some people aback. I know of a group of Mormons in Utah that believe they are the descendants of Jesus Christ and practice incest and intermarriage in order to "preserve the bloodline." They also practice polygamy. I know that not all Mormons are like this, many, in fact, aren't. But it's sad that people will judge the whole based on such a minority.

Well I went to a Mormon church for awhile because my great nephews father was and is Mormon. They are so bent on this Joeseph Smith instead of Jesus. I didn't see how they could be saved when they follow this so called prophet, that dug up some metal words or something. They are considered a cult in many religous followers of Jesus. Doesn't mean that some are not nice people , just as there are good Christians and bad.If you will email me and give me your email address I will send you some information you may find interesting to read.

no divide is too great for discussions concerning the Lord. Only through discussions can you truly learn of your similarities and differences. There are a few differences, but so are there differences between other christian religions and cultures. Reach out and witness to others.
God Bless always

There is no way that a person following the Bible could have unity with them. There is too wide a gap on the nature of God, sin and salvation. What the Mormon church teaches about salvation for example can not be reconciled with its own books!
