Considering I've smoked for 40 years and have tried to quit numerous times. Nothing has worked. I suffered a heart attack and went back to smoking. I'm what you would call a drug addict. At the age of 14, I wanted to be part of the in crowd. You had to smoke to be cool, but how was I to know that I would be hooked for life. I'm in the process of trying to quit now, but no guarantees.
I read some of the remarks made about being cool. I've had to have stents put in to open blocked arteries. These stents have been in for 2 years, I'm going to have the stents replaced because the nicotine is blocking the arteries again. Early grave for the young people. Slow death for the older people.

I'm a smoker myself so I can answer this, it's addictive I have wanted to try to quit but its too hard,I guess I just need motivation and just be ready to quit. Also not only are they addictive but at least for myself when I'm stressed and I smoke then I feel relaxed and feel like I can tackle whatever I'm working on thats stressing me out, no excuse though.

Because I like smoking. Everything in life has risks. I'm aware of the risks of smoking and I accept that. It's in my hands. BTW, I don't drive. Driving involves putting your life in the hands of everyone else who happens to be driving on the road at the same time as you. That is a risk that you are not in control of.

Life is a series of choices, and each choice has inherant risk. No-body knows what will happen to them from one second to the next. I know that smoking will probably kill me at some point. But I don't know if something completely unexpected will kill me in 10 seconds. Neither does anyone else.

It's my body. I'll do what I like with it. I don't smoke in front of non-smokers without their permission. I never smoke in front of kids, even in the open air. I try to limit as much as I can the damage I do to other people. But I enjoy smoking. I've tried to quit but failed, simply because I didn't actually want to. That's it, really.

Which smokers? I just quit a week ago. It's a habit similar to eating too much junk food. People just do it until they're ready to quit. Here's an explanation that might help you understand more:

These poor chaps won't leave cigarette smoking until cigarette leave them. Mind you they are some +ve points too in cigarette smoking like thinking better for which was pr oven by the scientist. My friend for example says, hey so what if I smoke cigarette it just shortens my living stage for some seconds. He did try leaving it, out but failed. He is not boozing for sure i know that.

They are addicted. And sometimes they need something to do with their hands. I know bunches of people that smoke. They all say that they can't help it.
