BMI is a ratio, which depends on the mass and volume of a person... and just indicates... roughly... how skinny or fat you are. A person of any total mass or weight could have any particular BMI depending on their height.

To determine the calorie needs of someone with a particular BMI, one must also know the actual mass of the person, otherwise it is only possible to give a very wide range, which would depend on the actual mass.
