If you can boot from your original installation disk or your backup partition ( some computers like newer HPs with a single disk) then either choose repair or if you're experienced enough you can edit the registry to remove one or the other. If you can get in at all you can run msconfig (start, run, msconfig)and use a selective start to exclude AV from starting then uninstall one of both products and start over.

>Yer gonna format and reinstall XP. Get real comfortable when you call Microstuff to get it re-initialized...I recommend a cooler of drinks, a headset (so your arms don't fall asleep holding the phone) and an extra pack of smokes...yer gonna be there for a while.

Two anti-virus programs are a real bad idea...they "mess" with each other. Especially if one of them is marketed by Symantec.<

genuinely eliminate spysweeper... Get SuperAntiSpyware (loose). Norton isn't super. in case you have paid for it, wait till the subscription runs out and then sell off it. Kaspersky and NOD32 are the only anti-viruses well worth procuring. in any different case, get avast!, Avira or MS protection necessities (all are loose). As to your telephone call... that would desire to freak me the hell out. even nonetheless, it would not inevitably mean that they understand something different than your call, IP address, and speak to quantity. just to be risk-free, nonetheless, i might test the computing device in risk-free mode with SuperAntiSpyware, your anti-virus, AND Malwarebytes (and in case you opt to experience fairly risk-free, AdAware and Spybot S&D). in case you get a telephone call like that back, ask for the guy's call, the call of the employer, their address, their telephone quantity, and write all of it down. in the event that they seem to be a valid employer, they assist you to appreciate all that archives and you will inspect them. _

Yes... having two virus proggies on your machine at the same time is a recipe for disaster. Remove them both and install AVG.. it's the best and it's FREE. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
