I am receiving 10-12 forwarded email msgs from a relative that I'm not particularly close to. They are always the same thing...chain letters with a religious message. I don't want to offend or put a strain on our relationship by bringing it up but it is driving me crazy! I hate to just delete without reading, sometimes the title is misleading.
What if she really had an emergency? Advice, please!

Explain to her that you don't support chain letters, and that you never send out email that wishes bad luck for people. If she keeps sending them, hit reply and tell her again, more firmly, you don't support chain letters. They are illegal in snail mail and should be in email. In my opinion, people who send them are thoughtless.

I have the same problem. My husbands family is catholic and I don't believe in anything. Fortunately for me the only one that sends me religious material is his aunt. I put up with it. It's not worth it to potentially offend her. I don't even think she knows my religious beliefs. HOWEVER... if I was receiving a lot of religious material in my email I think I would have to respond and very politely say that I didn't have the same beliefs as them and could they please stop sending me any religious or other controversial or politically incorrect material. If I was your relative, I wouldn't want to feel like I was pushing my beliefs down your throat. Hope this helps.... Just remember, be polite because they probably don't think they are doing any harm.

usually the message title would start with fwd: so just delete these. If you don't feel safe with that than talk about it. Say thank you for the messages, but i just delete them anyways.

The main point would be that if there was a REAL emergency, by phone would probably be the way you'd recieve news of it

I think it depends whether what they are sending you makes sense to you. If you think it a load of rubbish which most religions are then tell them to stop. Make up something like you can't read them cos they take up too much memory in your mail box and it's making you unable to read your other emails, i'm sure then they'll stop. most people just send chain messages to everyone in their address book, it's so annoying.
Other than that, create another email. But you shouldn't have to so I say go for option one.
xx

I wouldn't say anything. When you get any e-mails, just delete them right away without looking at them.

You can try blocking her, and besides, if she had an emergency, she could always call you.
