it is absolutely possible to lose 60 pounds in 5 months (12 pounds/month). Put yourself on a strict high protein 800cal/day diet (with a daily multivitamin), and do aerobic exercise for 60 continuous minutes per day (running or elliptical is best). Trust me, it will work. I lost over 100 pounds.

I think you might want to set your goal a little bit lower. It's usually healthy to try to lose only 1-2 pounds a week. Anything else might affect your metabolism negatively or, in order to lose more than that each week, you might be dieting too much, which you probably won't be able to keep up. I usually estimate 10 pounds a month to be the maximum amount of weight you should aim for. This number may be higher the heavier you are. Heavier people lose weight faster than those who are thinner.
I lost a lot of weight by doing 30-40 minutes of aerobics at least 4 times a week as well as some toning or strengthening exercises and just eating less. I think that dieting is most important, though, in weight loss since most of the calories you burn occurs while you're resting. I suggest reducing portions, limiting sweets and snacking on low calorie, healthy foods (such as fruits, lite yogurt, etc). Planning what you're going to eat the day before will give you something to stick to.
Overall, you have to burn more calories than you take in. You do this by either reducing your calories, burning more calories (through exercise and building muscle) or the combination of both. There's no way to get around it Losing weight isn't easy (or else everyone would be at a healthy weight) but it's not as hard as maintaining your ideal weight. So whatever method you choose, it has to be something that you know you'll stick with.

Funny you asked that because almost 2 years ago I lost 60 pounds in 5 months. I gained 30 back but that was my fault for pigging out again! You basically have make exercise and healthy eating part of your life! I cut out sweets, all bread/pasta type of carbs, ate lean meats, drank coffee, water, and diet drinks, ate veggies especially dark greens, snacked on fruits, stopped eating no matter what after a certain time, used splenda instead of sugar, and just exercised about 20-30 min. in my house about 5 times a week. I don't know how I did it after so many years of failed diets, but it worked. Now I'm trying it again and it's taking longer this time around =( Good luck!

Reduced fat meals, 1300 to 1500 avg calories per day diet, a lot of water with and between meals, no cravings, swimming or running for 20 minutes a day burns good ammount of calories, shape your body with weights, avoid any kind of fat loss caps til you are sure that you really need the extra help, you don't want to drop pounds too fast because you could drop energy also ;ending sick. It's possible to lose 60 in 5 but you would have to push yourself hard.

Yep. If you do this you can lose an average of 2-3 pounds a week which is 8-12 pounds a month. You just have to keep on it and stay motivated. Don't do it for the sake of fitting into a dress or for the sake of impressing someone, you need to do it for the person that counts the most and that person is YOU!
You need to limit your food intake. I am not talking starving to death or starving at all. I am talking about not eating everytime you turn around. Control your food portions, avoid seconds, avoid excessive amounts of sugary and fatty foods. You can still eat them just in limited amounts and not everyday. Drink plenty of water and excercise. A brisk walk for 20-30 minutes a day three days a week is sufficent.
Do not get discouraged and do not dwell on "I HAVE TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT" Dwell on "I want to lose this weight"
I wish you the best of luck
If nothing else you can also try weight watchers. They have someone who will coach you , have you weigh in and teach you how to eat.

You are going to have to work out at least 5 days a week with cardio and at least 3 days strength training. Then you are going to have to cut back on calories. No more pop either. You are trying to lose at least 12 pounds a month. I would try a set diet like Nutri System because they count the calories and measure the food out for you. It is expensive, but I hear it is worth it. You won't be able to cheat on this diet, not trying to lose that much weight.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.
1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.
2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.
3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.
These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

That's a hell of a lot of weight to lose in only 6 months! At first with most diets you will lose weight fast but it will slow down after the 1st month or 2. Healthy diet and exercise 3 or 4 times a week but do it right speak to a dietitian. Otherwise you could become ill. Oh and set yourself smaller targets and it will give you more of a chance succeeding. Good luck
