You can't stop the garnishment when you already have failed the payment plan in the first place. This is a problem that could have been solved if you had stuck to the payment plan, and then your wages would not be affected through the garnishment now.

Check the www.dol.gov website. Search CCPA. Consumer credit protection act. Be SURE the payor/employer is not taking more out of your pay than the Federal maximum. Typically, cannot exceed a percentage of your ADWE pay of perhaps 50%, depending on your situation. If it is a child support garnishment, and you have more than one family, this limit may go to 65%, etc.

You need to be sure your weekly pay is not being garnished by more than the allowable amount.

Call a lawyer and see what they say, I do know you can file for Bankruptcy but that should be your last resort.

I don't think you can stop it. All attempts were probably made to collect the debt and ignored by you. You were probably warned.
