My car failed emissions testing and the receipt I received had the following fault code: P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical.

What does a torque converter have to do with emissions? Is it just a part that I can buy at a parts store and replace it?

the torque converter has a solenoid that engages the converter clutch as required by the transmission control module(TCM),usually at speeds over 40 MPH, when there is a problem on that circuit, that fault code sets P0743, the solenoid is internal to the converter, need to replace the whole unit, has nothing to do with emissions
