I'm concerned about my Cat, he's a six year old Persian, and recently I noticed that he has a black spot on his mouth, it doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm so afraid that it may be a tumor. I talked to our Local vet who said that it's probably nothing to be worried about. Has anyone else had an animal that may have had something similar? Help

If you aren't sure, then talk to another vet. Get a diagnosis so that you understand what it is. If it's not cancer, ask him to explain to you some some signs of cancer or a tumor so that you'll know what to look for in the future.

It could simply be a pigmentation issue that's nothing to worry about. But, if you don't trust the disgnosis then seek out a second opinion. Cancer in felines progresses so quickly that if you really have a bad feeling about it, get it checked out sooner rather than later by that second vet. And I applaud you for caring so much about your cat that you have already have him seen. I hope that it's nothing to worry about. : )

keep an eye on it and it could be an age spot Ive seen a lot of cats come into my work with black spots on there nose and mouth/lips its kinda like a freckle...if however it grows or gets bigger take him to the vet and if the vet still says nothing is wrong get a second opinion...anything that grows a lot in a small amount of time is not normal 95% of the time

Cats and people develop "spots" as they get older. If he has been examined by a vet I'm sure it is OK.

I'm assuming that your cat is indoors. Sun exposure on the mouth, ears and nose can cause skin cancers, especially in light colored cats, white and orange.

I'm going to have to agree. All you can do now is keep an eye on it. If it stays the same or gets worse, take him in.

I hope he's ok!
