How can I get my daughters classmates mom to quit inviting her child over to my home? I don't call back and thought she would get the hint, however this is not working. Should I be tactfully blunt?

Explain to your daughter and her friend the situation and how you feel. Then call the other parent and tell her likewise. Be honest and tell her that if it continues she will no longer be welcome at your home.

I think what I would do if this is happening a lot, rather than be rude, the next time they call or just come by, look at the clock and say "Oh my..Look what time it is...we have to go or we are going to be late" Every time they are coming over...you have some where to go (even if you don't)..you do now! And do go some where even if it to town and back or around the block or just down the street and back. Go somewhere ever time.

You need to set some boundaries for her. Tell her a schedule that her daughter is allowed to come over. Maybe two days a week after school or something like that. Make it one that you can live with. It sounds like she is using you as a free baby sitting service.

I know how you feel. I live in an apt community at times it is great other times intrusive. I have a great neighbor who would do anything for us but her kids are out of control at times. They actually have just walked right in my apt several times. Just tell it like it is (politely) you get more respect if your honest. This is your home and schedule can be busy and you should not be made to feel uncomfortable.

yes be blunt she sounds like she is just looking for a sitter. I'm sure you are not the only house that's getting a drop in.

Next time she shows up at the door un-announced, just say, 'I am sorry, but this isn't a good time for a visit....we have other plans'.
May take a couple of times but the mom will get the message.

just tell that parent up front: your child is not welcome at my home when I dont invite him over. stop sending him and if he comes over i will send him home.
then do exactly that, send the child home but make sure he knows its not his fault! say: "my child cant play today, she has to clean her room" or whatever.

good luck.

some people don't get hints intentionally. Tell her. bluntly.... and don't be polite. i am sure you have a dark side, let her see a little of it. I am sure you aren't the only one she has done this to... My sympathies.... really.
