Cover it with a clean piece of absorbant cloth - such as guaze - and then apply steady direct pressure. Continue maintaining pressure until it stops bleeding. Be aware if it has any gaping to it it may need stitched.

Apply pressure till it stops bleeding. If the wound lays open it needs stitches, but if it lays closed apply the pressure till the bleeding stops.
If it is really deep you should see a doctor or go to the hospital emergency room.

Get a clean cloth (guaze) and apply pressure to the cut. Once it stops bleeding, put proxide and a bandage on it. If it is a bite or something like that, you may need a tetanus shot.
